Does anyone get dry mouth or just real thirsty? just the past few days I have been really thirsty feeling, and it's not as bad as you'd say cotton mouth i just feel thirsty. I talk to my mom about it and of course she said it might be diabetes! so that scared the heck out of me!! I'm 24, I don't think I have it but now i'm freaked out

Hello vanitykills.

I don't want to scare you further, but, if you're very thirsty, very often, then maybe you should get tested for diabetes. Your mother said that to you because she knows that being very thirsty, very often, is one of the first signs of diabetes.

You're 24, but diabetes is not a disease of old age. There are many children with diabetes.

If after you get checked and you don't have it (and it's more likely that you don't have it. But it's better to be safe than sorry), then maybe look for other reasons.

Vanity Kills:
The test for diabetes is fairly simple. I have type 2 diabetes. My grandson's wife has type 1.
It is not a death sentence. You just have to take care of yourself.
Grandson's wife is doing fine with it. She just watches her diet and takes her meds. She is expecting a baby due in August.
So I'd go ahead and get tested if I were you.
If you don't have it, then you can relax. (and maybe find out why you are so thirsty). In the meantime the water won't hurt you.
Wishing you blessings.

I would def get checked for diabetes to rule it out, but one of my problems with anxiety is the dry mouth and feeling very thirsty. . . Sometimes a piece of candy or ice will help. Also do u take any meds??? That can cause it. .

I get dry mouth and found out it is a side effect of taking Paxil. Try drinking about 8 glasses of water per day....it helps me and it is supposed to be good for you.
