What symptoms are you having? I definately believe that are minds can create symptoms of things we are most scared of. One of my worst fears are of dying of some awfull illnes and the ones that scare me the most are aneurysms, cancer, stroke and I seem to get symptoms of it all. Below is a post that I sent on another forum:

Has anyone experienced what feels like tremors or tingling in your head when your trying to sleep? My anxiety has manifested in many different ways but most recently in involuntary tremors in fee, legs, arms, back and head. Anyone else experience this? Its very disturbing and makes me want to run to the doctor for the 50 millionth time but I am resisting the urge to see if it is actually just my anxiety getting the best of me.

I feel like I have a cold coming on, my chest doesn't feel right. I don't have obvious chest congestion that you can hear. I can't put my finger on it. I have been obsessed with having lung cancer, and I have run into 3 people with it this week. And now my lungs "hurt" I don't want to run to the dr. for evertying. I don't mean to be a hypocondriac :(

Hey ellkay,
I too give myselfs all kinds of self diagnosing. My friends and family half-heartly listen to me anymore because I have had every known disease. Heart disease, lung problems, ms. Name it Ive had it. After years of dealing with this I am trying to find the humor of my mind and realize I am just a unique personality. Will I die someday, Yes! But I have spent to many waking hours worrying about symptoms I bring on myself in my own head.

Well, you're certainly among friends here! Somehow we always jump to the absolute worst conclusion. A headache is always a brain tumor, dizziness is always a stroke, and palpitations are always a heart attack, LOL!

First, it's very possible it's just anxiety. There are many common symptoms of anxiety that can make your lungs feel uncomfortable. Some of the most common are tightness in the chest, rapid or shallow breathing, or tightness in the throat.

Also there are many other things that can cause breathing difficulty that aren't lung cancer and aren't fatal. You could just have a simple chest cold. There's also bronchitis, which is typically treated with simple antibiotics. There's asthma too. I'm not trying to give you new worries (please forgive me if I am), just that not every symptom we experience in necessarily something terrible.

Good luck,
Jamie

Hey! Yes, you can totally convince yourself of illness! I had a mass removed from my lung about two years ago. The symptoms were the same as lung cancer symptoms. I was congested (but not in my bronchi, in my lungs, which I felt in the middle my back, on the right side, I was short of breath, I kept getting pneumonia, than during my third bout of illness, my fever jumped to 104 and I was very sick. So, you would know. :-) Don't worry! Just go to the doctor and have them listen, if you still don't feel better, order a lung x-ray! You would be very sick. Do you smoke? I did and still do...I've been trying to quit ever since then. Not to mention, they cause anxiety!

Melissa
