Sleeping Meds
I have terrible sleep issues when I'm having anxiety bouts. What works the best for me is Simply Sleep. It's made by Tylenol. It's pretty much TylenolPM without the Tylenol. Melatonin works for me when I just have trouble falling asleep (when I'm not having anxiety) but I need something stronger when my brain is racing with anxiety.
I think sleeping pills will make you get addicted to it. best is to go herbal and with no side effects. There are herbal tea's which get you good sleep. You can have look at this herbal tea at http://www.internationaldrugmart.com/he ... ea.html
I had my first panic/anxiety attack in 2001.
It was awful because I thought I was going to go crazy. I don't like using that term but that is how I felt. At the same time, I experienced
total insomnia and now 8 years later, I still can't fall asleep. I have been on every sleeping
medication known to man. It was like here try this and then try this and on and on. I have been told to drink warm milk, take a warm bath with lavender, drink chamomile ( sp ) tea, listen to relaxation tapes, try melatonin and then the roller coaster ride started. I am sure that the doctors had my best interest at heart but nothing was working. I was still awake at 4:30 a.m. when my husband's alarm would ring telling him to get up. I had doctors tell me if I wouldn't take a nap, I would sleep at night.
I tried to explain in the best way that I could
I can't take a nap, I can't fall asleep in the car while my husband was driving on trips and I
certainly couldn't sleep at night. I have also been told that I was just not trying. I was put on Ambien CR but my family physcian took me off of it because I was getting up and doing things that I wasn't aware of - some were pretty scary.
She now put me on Amitriptyline which is an old drug. I sleep but I don't know if the side effects are worth the druged sleep that I am experiencing.
I wish that I could tell you of a magic pill to take. What works for one, doesn't work for another.
All I know is, I can tell you first hand that I understand and my sympathy is with you.
I pray that one day you will find something that works for you.

Hello Everyone:
If you'll go back and read some of the older threads you will find that a lot of people talked about taking liquid calcium and magnesium for sleep.
I do sleep much better to take calcium and magnesium. I really do. I take 1800 mlg. of calcium and 250 mlg of magnesium. I take the magnesuim twice a day so that is 500 mlg. It won't hurt you. But if I take the whole 500 mlg. at one time I might get dirheah.
However, when I am having a real difficult time sleeping , like right now, I take the tylenol PM. It is not habit forming. And it works pretty well most of the time.
I just had surgery, a breast removed , and that keeps me strung out a bit, making sleep a bit harder.
also, I've been a bit stressed out. I do have bad eyesight and the kids were discussing my driving behind my back. I would have liked for them to be open about it. (I am 80 years old).
I just don't know why kids have to talk behind one's back. It is not like you lose your faculty to discuss a thing out in the open.
But there is really no use to be upset I guess.
You sure can't control what your kids do when they are in their late 50's.
But this type of thing can sure cause you to lose sleep.
Try to make sure that you are not harboring anger at anyone. That will sure keep you awake.
So I'd say just keep working the program. Do it just as is suggested.
And perhaps down the road aways you will all be able to sleep peacefully.
I think that sleeplessness just goes with it.
It is what ails us!
Just kind of give up and don't try so hard.
My best to all of you!
Mary Jane
