Yaz
Has anyone taken or is on the birth control Yaz and if so does it work well for anxiety and or depression? I stopped taking my ortho tricyclin because i was told BC pills can contribute to anxiety and depression But was wondering also if when you stop taking birth control pills do you get more anxious/depressed for a while while your body is adjusting? I am also using progesterone cream but i feel like it makes me feel drowsy. I went to my dr to ask if he could check if i have hormonal imbalances and he said i was way too young too(im 23) so he didnt do one. so if any of you lovely ladies have any answers it'd be great. thank you!

Yeah , see thats what i thought too. he was like its one in a million chance you have hormonal imbalances because youre so young.after he said that i was like Ok this doctor is dumb and must think i am dumb. I want to see someone who knows about hormonal imbalances and can test me. i dont know how i can find endochronologist. But i think that any woman could have hormonal problems no matter what their age. and ive also heard yaz can cause anxiety. . .but why is it supposed to be be good for pmdd?
I took Yazmin, and I'm pretty sure they are related but may not be identical, and overall, it was great. I felt it did lessen anxiety and depression to an extent. It has the side effect of being a diuretic, which I loved. I lost weight and it lessened my all my pms symptoms.
I do however suspect that it caused muscle twitching and spasms over time. I've since gone off the Yazmin and ultimately was diagnosed with Benign Fasciculation Syndrome by a neurologist. The twitching scared me and I was afraid I had ALS or MS, and it's really what got me here.
I've been told by doctors that the Yazmin did not cause the BFS, and information on the condition states that it's most likely an autoimmune response to something viral. Still, there was a temporal correlation between the two, and I'm still not convinced. If the Yazmin didn't cause it, it definately made it worse.
I researched Yazmin online and read other blogs from others who experiences twitching and spasms from it. Overall, I would say it was a good drug and has some really good side effects. It may be that it wasn't right for me, because of the BFS, which no one could have known about at the time.
Like anything, there's risk which needs to be balances against the benefits you may receive. Good luck.

I have BFS also, I have had it for over 5 years now and have just learned to live with it and it has gotten soo much better over time. I dont even know when I twitch anymore. Just know it is benign and wont harm you.
I dont take Yaz, but I take 10mg of Lexapro for my PMS/anxiety. My doctor suspects I have too much estrogen causing severe PMS, since I have been on it I have had no PMS and little to no anxiety so it works well for me. I went on irth control in my 20's and I was a wreck, felt horrible, and increased my anxiety, I knwo for BCP are not the way to go.

I was on Ortho Tricyclene and it was great for me until all of a sudden last Sept it wasn't and I felt really "off". I went in and they wanted to check my glucose and thyroid but in the mean time switched me over to a sister pill of Yaz, that was exactly the same in every way except for the diuretic. That pill made me even worse. Then after being on it for a couple weeks, I then had my first panick attack and you know how things just spiral with anxiety. After doing research and reading, I figured I initially must have been having some MAJOR homonal imbalances going on which led to me developing anxiety and panick attacks. Before September, EVERYTHING was totally fine. Talk about life being turned upside down. I went off the BCP of any kind right away and things got better. I'm way better than I was, still working on kicking the anxiety all the way but definetley way better than 5 months ago. Going over the program again is helping. Also, Someone mentioned on here a website for women who specifically work on hormone imbalaces in women of all ages and have placed my order for their 'good' vitamins which 100's of women swear by in their testimonials. I hope they make me feel better like all of them. The web site is great, www.womentowomen.com

I am 22 and I have a horomonal imbalance, so you are not too young to have one. I currently take Yaz, and I haven't had any increased anxiety from it that I have noticed. I know they use Yaz to treat PMS and PMDD, which includes anxiety and depression as symptoms. Yaz is supposedly the only birth control pill that will treat those emotional symptoms, so I don't see why it should increase anxieties. Maybe at first as your horomones are adjusting, but it shouldn't be long term.
