benzo side effect

I read that anti anxiety meds can cause depression or make depression worse as a side effect. Has anybody experienced this? I have taken Ativan for a couple months and have recently felt extra depressed and I dont know if its just me or the Ativan.

Yes it's true Holly, please tell your doctor about this and he/she can prescribe you a different med. Everybody's body is different and reacts differently to different meds (wow that's a lot of "differents" in a sentence lol). tc

Has that happened to you chief? I'v been on ativan before and it always seemed to help my depression even. . Well.. when i get depressed I get anxious so maybe it just helps me anxiety BUT it has never made me more depressed.. . So i dont know if its me or if its making me depressed because iv been on it for a while?

It's happened to some friends of mine Holly and they saw there dr and got something different which reacts better with their body/mind. I was taking something that didn't make me feel so great so doc said to cut it in half, then it didn't do anything so we switched.
