Gained 30 pounds form Anti depressant.
Hi everyone! I have been on Pristiq for 8 months now and since than i have gained 30 pounds. I was 90 pounds and now I am 123. I am only 5'1 and have a small frame so I should not be this much. I feel so fat and it is making me so depressed and insecure. The thing is Is that Pristiq helped me a lot with my depression and OCD thoughts, but the downfall is the weight gain. I have been on them for 8 pr 9 months now and I want to get off them/ Only because I want to lose weight. If It didnt make me gain weight I would def stay on it BUT being this huge makes me too depressed. I dont feel like myself. I am a thin person stuck in a fat person body. Has anyone ever experienced this from anti depressants and is this a good reason to get off? Any feed back would be great! I am On the lowest dose of Pritstiq. 50 mgs. I am also taking ativan 1 mg at night. But I know its the pristiq. It makes me so sad that it made me gain weight because it has helped me so much. My anxiety and depression are not as bad anymore so I am hoping that I will be ok if i get off them/ Thank you

Hi Holly,
Glad to hear you are doing well with the depression and OCD, it sounds like the Pristiq has really helped you. As for your weight gain, could it be you have gained weight because you feel better and am no longer nervous and anxiety ridden all the time. You are 123lbs which is a very healthy weight for your size, 90lbs however was too thin for your size. If I was you I would discuss with yor doc, but for me I would rather be a healthy weight with a healthy mind than thin with a crazy mind.

agree with you Nole I have gain alot of weight and Im short 5ft and now weighing in at 220 that is hughe I was losing weight but the meds I was on stoped working so I had to go on zoloft. But yes I'm sad about the weight gain but glad about not having all the other crap.I have been on meds for 12 years different kinds though, The first was paxil and xanax. I gained 60 pounds in 3 months with that which I use to be at a healthy weight. But again at that point in my life I would not go out of the house at all I was to scared to till I got on the meds so I guess what I'm trying to say is that you have to take the good with the bad sometimes. Boy I wished I weighed 123 I would be so happy .But you are at a healthy weight for your height. Take care to all

I am taking Zoloft I have gained alot of weight. It seemed like all I wanted to do was eat. I think it is the medication I use to not care about eating that much. Since I started this session I have cut down drinking water eating smaller portions and exercising. I am trying to get my life back. It is so hard having panic attacks. Rather than have them though I would rather be fat. And I have always been petite. I hope after this program the doctor will lrt me get off Zoloft.Take care of yourself God Bless.

Hi Holly,
Some meds can cause weight gain, but you know, I agree with a previous post, 90lbs is very thin, and 123lbs is still thin, but probably better for you. I think you are happier, more anxiety and depression-free and you are probably at a great weight for your body. You are probably accustomed to being so thin that the weight is scaring you but you are at a healthy weight. I have actually lost weight also, but it was due to depression and I went from 135lbs to now 122lbs so I feel soooo thin
and want to get my weight back, so we all deal with something, but I will say that I will gain it back when I am happier and anxiety-free, so count it all joy and as a good sign that you are on the road to RECOVERY!
God Bless!
