I take fish oil 1,0000mg twice a day as well as magnesium 500mg. I also take extra zinc and vitamin C and a good multi but, as far as feeling less anxious I believe the fish oil and magnesium have helped the most with it. If you are really interested in supplementing for brain chemitry check out a copy of "Chemistry of Joy" by Henry Emmons. Or "The brain chemistry diet" by Michael Lesser. Both are very good books. Try your local library and if they don't own them they can borrow them for you from another library. Its called "inter library loan" Can you tell I'm a librarian?? lol Good luck!

I have generalized anxiety and mild to moderate anxiety attacks. I was put on a number of drugs including Xanax (for anxiety), Toprol (for an A-fib), and Seroquel (to help me sleep). I have eliminated all three with the help of some supplements (and with my Doctor's help), but still have some anxiety under it all to work on.
My base help for anxiety was 1000 mg of fish oil (Weil) twice a day, Magnesium Lactate (Standard Process), Calcium Lactate (Standard Process)(some people find Calcium excites their anxiety I hear), Inositol (SP) and passionflower (TRB Health). I will eventually eliminate the inositol and passionflower when I work through the remaining anxiety.
I'm still going through the withdrawal symptoms of the Seroquel, so I can't call this a road to no anxiety, but I believe these things do help and won't end up biting you later.

Curt,
The zinc isn't for anxiety, just for overall immune support. Its the fish oil and magnesium that I take for anxiety help. And, I think they work!
With fish oil you just want to be sure that you get "purified" product. Don't sweat the omega 3's vs. the omega 6's... fish oil has the right ratio naturally.
Doug,
Good for you going the natural route! Its hard but I think it is best for mind and body.
