Hello all -
I have been on Lexapro for 1.5 years, 10mg eventually going to 20mg. My husband and I want to start trying to have a baby in May so my OBGYN advised me to switch to Zoloft since it would be safe for the baby. They started me at 50mg (the 10mg Lex equivalent) but gave me a prescription for 100mg incase the 50mg wasn't enough. Well I moved up to the 100mg because some anxiety was coming back on the 50. I have been at 100 now for about 2 weeks andeven though I have not had any depression at all, my anxiety has come back. I'm very jittery and have some hot flashes. Is this common for an SSRI change and do I need to stick it out? Do I need a dosage change? Has anyone else experienced some increased anxiety when going on Zoloft? I'm truly grateful for any advice.
Lexapro to Zoloft transition
Hello my name is Heather. I was on lexapro for almost 3 years and it reallly helped me. well I got married and me and my husband decided to have a baby. I quit taking my lexapro and the doc put me on buspar since I was pregant well it didn't help me. I was have panic attacks all the time. so yes you getting off lexapro and getting on a diff med can cause them to come back becuase ur body is use to lexapro not zoloft. if u believe it's not helping at all tell ur doc maybe he can put u on something that will help
Hi there,
I was on Lexapro for over three years. I weaned myself off slowly and my anxiety came back full force. Then, after a couple of months of panic attacks my doc started me on zoloft. I had all of the same symptoms you are having. I started off much slower and am currently on 50mg. I had about 4 weeks of side effects and am now quite satisfied with the results. Changing meds can certainly cause problems.
