This is the generic for klonopin, right? Well, it is the equivilant of 10 valium. I was never prescribed it, but worked with it for over 8 years in the mental health settings with patients. It of course is for severe anxiety and others use it for seizures....alot of meds have dual actions like that. Anyway, I believe that with any med that is used as needed will eventually become a routine med. Especially the addictive ones such as klonopin, valium and ativan. I have been prescribed ativan (sensitive to it and freaked out on it) and valium (which I take now everyday....about 2 milligrams whenever I feel anxious). Everyone is different, so you just have to see how you feel taking it, and of course be prepared to need more of it with time. Hopefully, with the stress and anxiety program you will be able to conquer the troubles that we all are experienceing and not have to use the meds. Thats what I am hoping for me. I do believe though, if we are at a place in time that we feel we cant make it without the help of meds for now, then by all means use them....cautiously.

Hi, I'm surprised that you were prescribed Clonazepam as a "take as you need" med. I know ativan is used that way, but like valium clonazepam is addictive and in my experience quited controlled. Presently, and happily, I am coming off clonazepam right now, but it is a two month process. I have other meds. that I take, and hope to be off of them at some time. Use this medication carefully.

Hi Plessa. I am currently taking .25 of clonazepam, but want to come off. I'm really scared about coming off. You mentioned you are planning on a two month process. Do you mind if I ask how much you are taking and how long you have been on it? Also, are you doing ok coming off it? I'm hoping to hear some positive feedback because I am really scared. I know it won't be a piece of cake, but hearing someone that's doing it successfully and with the grace of God doing it without tremendous side effects. T

Hi:

Was on .25 clonazepam for 4 weeks. Made me very sedative and shaky. I stopped taking it and freaked out and went into withdrawals. Now on Xanax. Don't ever stop Meds "cold Turkey" I have learned a great lesson!

Hi there. I was prescribed Paxil which made me really jumpy, etc. So, my doctor prescribed clonazapam .05 milg to take with it. Worked great. But now, 40lbs heavier, I, also, would love to get off all meds. Please let me know how it works for you.

Thanks

Hi everyone.
Regarding the Clonazepam, I unfortunately took it for 2 years everyday as I was never told of it's horrible addictive properties.
I was on a much higher dose than you all have been talking about and I stopped in January. It has not been a fun ride... TO SAY THE LEAST!
So PLEASE to all of you if you are taking ANY kind of benzodiazepine on a daily basis be careful and if you want to stop, do it REALLY REALLY slowly. I can't stress that enough.
If you want to know more there are web-sites dedicated to this drug and the effect it's had on people.
The slogan "take a valium" is anything but funny for those who are dependant on it...

Thanks for your feedback. Just so you know, I have started reducing the Clonazepam by a very small amount. So far so good. The point is I want to encourage people that you CAN do this if you go slow, trust God and use tools to assist in curbing your anxiety. What I see on the internet so often is the negative side, which would really scare me that I wouldn't be able to get off these meds. I just wanted to add some encouragement for those of you who are afraid. Just go slow. You CAN do this and not feel like you are losing your mind in the process. God Bless to all.

And one other thing....make sure you work with your doctor. I thank God that I have found a wonderful and understanding psychiatrist who is supportive and a huge help as I transition off the clonazepam.

wow, I've been on klonopin, for over lets just say 5 years easy... My system can take it, but I get an up set stomack all the time. Been doing more herbs, and a diff doctor, but still have to take my best friend every morning.. Hate it...When I get to stressed about it all I have a drink, and I know that's bad, but still I calms the stressor... Has any one ever had to detox from the klonopin?
Believing you can is everything.
