I took Remeron for a short while (maybe a month or so). I had been on Prozac for depression 5+years, but had a deep depression episode after my mother died, and Remeron is what the psychiatrist suggested to try to "jump start" my recovery. It worked great, but caused an alarmingly fast weight gain, and I never was able to lose it all after stopping the Remeron. I literally gained weight every day that I was on it, even though I was not eating any more than usual.

Best wishes.

I was on Remeron when I was first diagnosed with Anxiety Disorder because it was the only one that seemed to work. It will KNOCK you out to sleep about 30 minutes after you take it and You may have some wild and very vivid (not necesarily bad)dream.

I agree with LVgrl, it will make you put on weight. It made me want to eat and eat and eat.

I got pregnant with my now 8 year old daughter and it wasn't tested for pregnancy so i went on Prozac and have never looked back (however, it seems to be not working anymore and I may need a kickstart as well).

Good luck to you. My thoughts and prayers go out to you in this struggle.

Remeron worked a miracle for me during a long 4 year custody issue where I went down to 103 lbs. It was such a relief also to actually sleep 8 hours straight!! A very good "jumpstart"!!

I was on Remeron for about 1 month. I did have good sleep while taking it but started to experience a rare side effect. I say rare because according to the manufacturer, I was the 1 in a 1000 that had palpitations / skipped heart beats.
My physician stands his ground that it is not the medication, however; i have been off of Remeron now for 2 days and the irregular beats have lessened substantially. Other than the skipped beats I felt good and had no bouts of hunger or weight gain.
