I have taken 20mg of Lexapro for about a year. I had no side effects what so ever, but haven't felt like it was doing too much to help with my anxiety latley. My dr. suggested Paxil. I really was against it, just because of things I've heard and read but the anxiety was too strong, so I decided to start it. For one week I took 10mg of Lexapro and 20mg of Paxil. Then after that, Just took the 20mg of Paxil. I take my medications before i go to bed and noticed right away that by the evening or night I was having these slight "head rushes" They only last for a second. A feeling I seem to remember having when I had missed a dose of medicine. But I have only missed 4 or 5 times. So i spoke with my Dr and he said the Paxil may not be lasting long enough or it could be a slight withdrawl symptom because 20mg of Lexapro is stronger than 20mg of Paxil. He informed to take Paxil CR, 25mg. Saying that its drawn out more and may help. Well the morning after I took my first Paxil CR... I have had these head rushes allllllll day. Its like a rush of dizziness for a second but my head gets tight. Its hard to explain. I'm sick to my stomach but that may be just because i'm worried about these rushes. I called my Dr. right away because it was so unbearable. He said to increase the Paxil CR to 37.5mg which would be a tablet and a half. Well I did that and NOTHING has changed.

I'm sorry I wrote a book above but I wanted to let you know the whole story. My question is has anyone experienced these rushes before??? I'm contacting my dr right away tomorrow but I am literally in tears because I can not deal with these rushes. Sometimes they happen every 10 seconds or sometimes they are ten mintues apart. I just need a little knowledge from you guys and what you've experienced!!! THANK YOU SO MUCH!

You sound alot like me in that you have a Dr that prescribes you higher doses, and you want to get better so you listen and take the medicine blindly. I am in the process of getting off of Cymbalta completely. I have tried Paxil and the side effects wer just too extreme for me. And yes, I did experience the head rushes sometimes. I switched from the Paxil, (I took it for a year) to Cymbalta. I went up to 60 mg. of Cymbalta and now am taking 40 mg a day. This was my request. I realized that if I take every suggestion given to me by my Dr. I might never get better. I am experiencing some returning depression but I am using my skills taught in Lucinda's program and not giving up. It isn't easy and I am still not "cured" or completely over anxiety, but I feel ALOT better than I did on 60 mg. of medicine. Try your best not to have to go higher and work on your fears, even though it is a little scary. You can do it. Listen to the disc "The truth about medication and alcohol" It might help you think from a better perspective. :)
