I am trying to explore the herbal side of life since I have weaned off meds for a few months and my anxiety/insomnia is back. I have tried Seredyn and Mellodyn for sleep. I know there is Valerian in the daytime and nighttime formula. Is this safe? Someone on here once said it is like valium. Gosh...I hate that my hubby is so naturally stable, nothing ever rattles him!

I have tried almost every herbal supplement for anxiety under the sun. I tried this when I was looking for a quick fix to my anxiety before I tried this program. I tried Nereel, St John's wort (I don't recomend that one since I almost ended up in the emergency room with awful side effects), Valerian and woah did that make me feel out of it and many other things. I found the only thing that worked for me was taking my regular vitamins or even just a Vit B regimen (B12 is great for stress, anxiety and depression). The great thing about Vit B is that it is used to help level people out hormonally and emotionally. It promotes mental stability and calmness. I found that the program and a support system were really the only things that worked for me. Keep positive skj and stay strong!

Hi SKJ,
Please check this sute out:

<A HREF="http://www.livingnaturally.com/common/a ... 35785A#Use" TARGET=_blank>http://www.livingnaturally.com/common/a ... 85A#Use</A>

enter, prescription med or herbal, supplement or vitamin and bring up their specific reference library and explore the possibilities and the don'ts on any of these.

Good luck, and congrats on getting off the meds without too many negative side effects.

Hey,

Don't take Melatonin ,because your body will stop producing it naturally even though the production of it decreases as we get older.Valerian,be careful not to take with alcohol,because it may over load your liver.Other then that your can find most of the info on line.The info about melatonin maybe hard to find because it's so widely marketed.Added note ;

Short term is fine,but as per James F.Balch,MD and Mark Stengler,ND ,"Book Prescription for natural healing". some studies indicate that more than occasional use can permanently stop the bodies production of the hormone melatonin.Didn't mean to frighten you just make you aware,I should have been more clear ,sorry,Some people use it long term basis without knowing,hope this helps !!!!
