Does anyone have recommendations for vitamin supplements...not brands but types? For example, I have heard that vitamin B complex time release is helpful against anxiety, and also omegas (omega 3's? omega6?). Any information? I'm off meds, but would like to look into some more natural, dietary therapies.
Thanks!

I started a supplement program but was unable to continue because I've developed acid reflux. However, when I was on the following supplements, I found considerable relief (even though I was /am still on anti-anxiety Rx). Yes, you are right about Omega 3, but from what I understand it's primarily for VERY mild depression. You want to look for one that has 1440 mg of EPA and 960 mg od DHA. All of the B vitamins have different properties, so you'll want to ask someone in your healthfood store about this (I haven't tried these, but both my pharmacist and an acupuncturist recommended the B's). I also know vitamin E is helpful.

Most importantly, I've used passion flower and it works REALLY well (probably even more so for someone who isn't habituated to the anxiety meds). There is some excellent information at theroadback.org. This is my next plan of attack after successfully completing this program. Oh, believe it or not, aromatherepy is also helpful in creating a calming atmosphere; lavender is one I can think of offhand though there are several others.

Hope this is helpful, and a hearty congrats for not being a hostage to prescription drugs!!! I hope to get there eventually. Peace.

I think that Folic Acid is very helpful. You can buy it over the counter. It is safe and has a lot to offer.

Excellent question and believe me I have tried a little of everything--including a number o Rx for anxiety. I am finding a limited about of relief with St. John's wort, Vitamin B, and Chamomille (Sp?). I've just started the "Good Days Complete" multi-vitamin pack included with the program.

Passion flower, and B vitamins are good. Here is what I reccomend from a homeopathic approach.

Innositol, GABA, Tyrosine, L-Theanine, Omega 3, Chamomile tea, a nice Multivitamin, Tryptophan, and 5-HTP. Make sure you read up on the reccomended doses for these. They are usually available at most vitamin shoppes. Always check with your Dr. before starting any medical treatment.

I just started this program. I received the 30 day free "Good Days Complete" vitamin supplements also. Are any of you taking these? Do you have any side effects? I am on prescription medicine for anxiety and high blood pressure. So naturally, I'm sitting here worrying about taking the packet. Since it's the weekend I can't get in touch with the Dr or the "Good Days" people. Guess I just need to wait till Monday. I sure would like to feel like the information packet says I will if I take this! I want to be able to get off the prescriptions. Just wanted to see if anyone else could vouch for the product. Thanks.

I have also just received the "Good Days Complete", and my question is if the 5-HTP will add to my SSRI to cause serotonin syndrome (too much of a good thing--see post in main menu).
Has anyone else combined 5-HTP with SSRI's?

I just spoke with a former pharmacist who now runs a health food store, and he said 5-HTP can add to the effects of any anti-depressant, increasing serotonon levels to an uncomfortable level. Since "Good Days" contains 50 mg of 5-HTP, I am not going to take it with my Zoloft. Xanax is an anti-anxiety not an anti-depressant--I don't know what biological precesses it works on.
