They are not seeming to help me. I have seemed to get worse once I was on the Busprione. Anyone else experience this too? I have severe anxiety, OCD and depression. Why would the busprione not work?

Hi IKnit,

How long have you been on the med?
Mine took 6 weeks to work, some take 2-4 weeks. If it's been longer than 6 weeks you may need a higher dose...tell your doctor how you are feeling and see if he/she can up the daily dose.
Also if you are having drinks with caffein, chocolate, sugars, that will affect the medication.

Good Luck,

Hi Iknit: I was on Busprione for a short time. Doc pulled me off. It made my heart rate go so fast that I pretty woozy with it. Have a hard time witha lot of meds they do not agree with me. Doc says I have a very sensitive system.
Put me on something calledMetoprolol 25mg 2x day. But she has me starting out at just a 1/2 a day for a start untill I see how i do.

Makes me feel like I am takeiing diet pills.. Having a hard time sleeping. Wake up after just a few hrs and can't get back to sleep.

Have an apt coming in Oct. Will discuss this with her and see what she has to say.

If it wasn't for the side effects of makeing more anxious I think i could handel this.

Hope all works out for you.

It's been longer than that. I just got off the phone with my doctor and we are going to wean me off what I'm on for the next week, and then in two weeks, I have an appt. with a new psyc doc who can prescribe me what is needed after he talks with my therapist whom I've been seeing.

Sgt. Monette!
Hi:
I've been taking 50 mlg. of metoprolol
for 7 years. There wasn't a generic
for it in 2001. It was called Toprol XL.

They gave it to me for rapid heart rate.
(I had anxiety but they never mentioned that)
I'd gone to doctor because from my symtoms they thought I was having a heart attack and I thought so too. It felt like my heart was
thumping around and taking summersaults (sp?).
The metoprolol will make your heart beats more comfortable in you chest. Also it makes you feel slowed down and calmer.
They give it for blood pressure some times also.
I like taking it as it helps me feel more calm.
But it is not an anti-depressant.
I take 50 mlg every morning.
Just thought I would share that.
I do have high blood pressure and also take
Lisinopril for that.
I also went off my anti-depressant awhile back.
That was hard. I've been off that for awhile.
I'm glad to be but still not real confident that
I'll be okay off it.
I now just take one day at a time.
Thanks for sharing. I enjoyed your post.
Take care!
MJ
Oh, about the heart that time ....... it was okay. My heart was in pretty good shape. I just had anxiety.
