My doctor put me on 1 mg Abilify in the morning. I started it yesterday and I have felt so tired, like drugged-up tired after I take it. Anyone know if this is expected? I have a big exam at 8 am tomorrow and I'm really worried I'm gonna miss it or be so tired I won't do well.

Jadore, I understand this is a normal side effect for this mediciation. How long it may last, I don't know. Are you taking it for depression?

The doc gave my daughter abilify. She had to quit taking it becuase it affected her ability to swallow. Be aware that this could be a side effect that you want to keep an eye out for. It's a neurological drug, I believe. Read the list of possible side effects and watch for them. The doc told us that the symptoms can become permanent if you wait too long. Fortunately, we got our daughter off of it quick enough that she has no permanent damage.

Hi Garret,

There was a thread about RLS. I believe this is a sleeping disorder that needs to be check through a competent sleep study. I had it and it was primarily caused by my sleep apnea. Once I was put on a cpap machine, poof the RLS was gone. We thought this was just a side benefit. I would just speak to your GP to order a sleep study, and let them see what they come up with to give you some relief.

BTW, I am not ignoring the stuff about Abilify but there are enough posts on topics about Abilify that I do not need to add anything except to say, I HATE MEDS! They become crutches and I believe they interfere with your life. Sure some have gotten help with meds, but how many more get nothing but more problems or worsening pre-conditions? The evidence here is overwhelming. Need I say any more? Nevertheless, this is something you should discuss with your doctors, and follow their advice.

I have to get going, but I will return later.

God Bless to all.
