If you have done this could you please share how you did it?
I take my Paxil in the morning....would it be best for me to take Lexapro at night while I am transitioning?
Or take them both at the same time?
Thanks for sharing your experiences.

I have taken many different anti-depressants/antianxiety meds. The one that has worked the best for me is Effexor. It doesn't make me feel high or low, I am just better able to cope with life and problems better. I seem to be more objective about things. Although I am far from being ok. I am hoping this program will work with the Effexor.
Hi Pamela,
When you switched SSRI's, how did you do it?
Did you stop one before starting another?
Or taper down on one and go up on the new one?
I know I need to switch to something but am scared of the transition process.
Mr doc says I can start on the Lex slowly while coming off Paxil.
Thanks,
Dawn

I know with Effexor, you have reduce the dose gradually, then stop. Paxil, I don't know, but your doctor should tell you how to reduce your Paxil dose, then start your new meds. I have never taken Paxil, but a bunch of others. With those I just stopped without any side effects. However, with Effexor I get zingers in my head if I forget to take it (usually the next day).
Hi Pamelab,
I too have taken Effexor and experienced great results. I was on Zoloft 100-200mg but never felt my depression was under control. A friend told me about Effexor and I must say the week i changed i felt my mind clear of fog. I was taking the 150mg strength and tried to reduce down to 75 mg but didn't do well on the lower dose. I did experience problems staying asleep or falling while on the medicine. I chose to take it the moment i went to bed so it would wake me up early in the morning. I have always had trouble waking up for work but i do well if i take the medicine at night. I am now on Cymbalta 60mg and i feel even better. At times with effexor if i forgot to take it I would have rebound and sleep all day long. With Cymbalta i still take it at night and i am able to wake up in the morning but i can sleep a few more hours than with Effexor. What i don't like is houw Cymbalta is expensive and Effexor is now a generic, but to me the money is worth it.
I have been taking antidepressant meds for over 3 years and I feel better now than in the beginning. I contribute it all to the medication. I truly believe without Effexor or Cymbalta i would be a wreck. I hope you do well with Effexor and the program.
