My psycologist suggested them for an upcoming flight I'm taking in 2 weeks. I don't have them yet. Anyone taken them or have any info on them?

I was on them for years....too long. They are good for short term...like your flight....but do not take them for long periods, as in years. They are highly addictive when taken for a long time. The one I took was Klonopin. It will help to relax you. It may be a good idea for your flight.

I HAVE BEEN ON XANAX FOR 12 YEARS. ALTHO, A LOW DOSE OF 1 MG. PER DAY; YOU HAVE TO BE CAREFUL ABOUT THE "WEARING OFF EFFECT" AND WANTING/NEEDING MORE. I HAVE NOT INCREASED MY DOSE DUE TO THE ADDICTIVE NATURE. BUT I ALSO USE IT ONLY WHEN I FEEL I AM GETTING HIGHLY STRESSED AND NOT ABLE TO CONTROL A POSSIBLE ANXIETY ATTACK COMING. FROM MY EXPERIENCE, THE MEDICAL COMMUNITY DISLIKES THESE LINE OF DRUGS AND ARE LEARY OF PUTTING PEOPLE ON THEM. GOOD LUCK. THEY WORK, JUST GET TO KNOW HOW TO USE THEM...

Hey Kanan. I would agree with Belinda that you do have to be careful because they can be addictive for the reasons that have been stated already. I would say if you feel that you need to take something for a flight it's okay. My mothers friend has to take a sedative before every flight because of severe panic attacks, but she only takes it for that type of situation. If you do decide to take a benzo for this, you might want to test it first in the safety of your own home to see if there are any negative side effects. That way you don't have to worry about THAT and the flight when the time comes. Good luck! Let us know how your flight goes.

I Take Ativan and i like it a lot. WORKS in about a half hour. my sister took some once oinly for her flight and thats all. i take 1 everyday before bed. I know everyone says be careful, but i really need them right now. going through a rough time in my life and my panic is high. It does make me feel disconnected and very sleepy. only disconnected when i take it during the day and have to be awake but they do make you sleepy. which i like. good luck with them. I prefer Ativan instead of xanax. not as addicting and more mild.
Hope is the unspecified expectation that life will be good.

Thank you all for your reply. I'm supposed to get them on the 24th and test one out at home and then have it if I need it on the flight on the 2nd.
I'm scared because I don't take ANYTHING. Rarely even Tylenol. But, I had the worst panic attack I've ever had on a flight June 3rd. I think just knowing that I have the Benzo in my purse will be quite comforting.
Thank you all!!! I'll let you know. Kanani
