I went through the program over a year ago, and all of a sudden I am a ball of anxiety again. I have been getting sinus headaches for the past month (naturally for a hypochondriac they are brain tumors), and went to the ENT yesterday. Since the headaches started, I have been a big ball of anxiety because they would go away and once I went to see the doc they would come back. Anyway, the ENT looked into my sinuses and noticed an infection, so he prescribed me Levaquin. Naturally knowing I had something made me feel better because it may be the cause of the headaches, but the second he mentioned something other than a Z-pack (my favorite), I got a little bit more nervous.
STUPID me decided to do some online research...ESPECIALLY when I noticed anxiety being one of the side effects of an allergic reaction. Why would they put that on there when most of us get anxiety when we take Nyquil? Anyway...I just called the pharmacist to verify that it is OK to take Xanax with this stuff, so at least I have that going for me. She told me to take it at night, and of course, since I haven't slept for three nights (until I've been forced to take a Xanax), I am wary that it will be another sleepless night of my heart racing, me checking my skin every 5 seconds to see if I'm getting a rash or looking in the mirror to see if my pupils are dilated. I have gone to every website possible and only read bad reviews of this stuff, and I need some reassurance from people that didn't have a problem. I am 26, I exercise on a very regular basis, I eat healthy, have low blood pressure, and low cholesterol. Any help would be wonderful!

Hey there!

This is my first post, but I will say in my experience, i have sinus infections ALL THE TIME, I have never had a problem with levaquin man. Im a 20 year old in college and im a ball of anxiety too. I know looking at side effects is scary, and i have that same problem. I hate it!!!!!! Its like I have to research anything put in my body then im scared to take something is supposed to make me feel better. But anyway, when I was doing good with my anxiety etc. I took levaquin quite a few times. Its just an anti-biotic, its never even phased me at all. it wont change your mood or anything in my opinion. Take it with confidence, its not like it can be any worse of anxiety than you have had in the past if thats a side effect, if you even experience anxiety I'm pretty sure its in your head. Good luck!

I also have taken Levaquin. I did alright with it. I am also a ball of anxiety. One thing I would do is stop researching all the side effects, because if you have anxiety like I do then you'll get all the side effects. It is good to check with your parm. to see if anything you are already taking will interfere. Hang in there.

I just finished a round of Levaquin yesterday for a throat infection, and I took it once before for a sinus infection and havent had any anxiety or problems with it, I find it works well and quickly on my infections. I too was nervous when I read it could cause anxiety but I was fine. I prefer it over the Z-pack as it is gentle on my stomach and the Z-pack is hard on my stomach.

I also took it along with my 10mg of Lexpapro with no problems. My doc knows I have anxiety and he had no problems prescribing it for me because it is so unlikely to happen, he was confident I would be fine on it and he was right. As you can see, many of us on here have taken it with no problems, so take it and dont think about it again.

I have taken Levaquin twice within the past two years-for infections as well. It works really great and was at the time the strongest antibiotic out there-in which I liked that because if there was any other lingering infection it would kill that bad bacteria off as well. The doc assured me that it would be okay (because I am very weary of trying new meds since I have anxiety). I will say that I had great experience with Levaquin. I had taken Z-pack for years for sinus infections and the last few times I tried Z-pack I had to discontinue due to the harshness on my stomach. I sure hated that because I was so accustomed to taking Z-pack.
Hope that it worked out for you!
