Has anyone ever weaned off of Zoloft?

I have. I think i was on 150 mg and I slowly tapered down to 50 mg within a a couple of weeks if i remember correctly. When i made it down to 50 i started taking it every other day instead of everyday and eventually stopped completely. I don't remember feeling any bad side effects doing it this way.

Thanks for the info. I have been trying to start the tapering process, but the doctor I have now is kind of negative about me doing it. I am on 150mg right now. It seems like whenever I start talking about weaning off he starts throwing stuff at me about why not too. I have been on it for a little over 8 years now, and I am not sure why anymore.

I too was on zoloft for years and I wanted to wean myself off to see how I felt without them. YOu won't know until you try. I managed to stay off them for almost a year before my anxiety got out of whack again and I went back on them. My Dr. at the time was kind of old fashioned and told me that i would certainly need to be on medication for the rest of my life. I think after he told me that I wanted to show him that I didn't have to be on them. lol. The good thing is that if you wean yourself off and feel like you need meds again then you can always start back up.
