My doctor doubled my effexor dose from 150 mg/day, to 300 mg/day.

I am feeling sweaty and nauseous - has anyone else been on this amount of effexor?

Hi,
I've been on 450 mgs and am getting off of it right now. I don't remember having the nausea, but I know the sweating is a big problem on Effexor. Even after I'd been on it for awhile, I continued the sweating. My doctor told me this is the most common side effect for this drug. I just tried to drink plenty of fluids and keep tissues and a hand held fan with me. Good luck and I hope you are doing well.
Take care,

effexor also comes in a dosage of 250 mg, you should speak with your doctor about reducing the dosage because the nausea could be your body telling you its too much. How long have you been on the 300 dosage? If you have been on it longer than two weeks and you are still feeling nausea the dosage may be too strong.

Take care,
Rose

Has anyone experienced loss of appetite and nervousness from Effexor or is this just my anxiety working against it. How much success have you had on Effexor and how long did you have to wait to see results?

I have been on 75mg for 3 weeks now and just doubled it to 150 and have been feeling better since the 2nd week. This is the only med that has gave me relief in almost a year. i tried many others and was on prozac for about 2 years but it just quit working. I have heard really good things about this med and am hoping for the best and good luck to you. Finding the right dose and even med can take a few tries.

My Dr. sent me to a Psychiatrist who precribed Effexor. I was on it for 3 days and it went directly for my Adrenal glands. Felt like I drank 40 cups of coffee. I almost went the the hospital, but chose to call them first. Their suggestion was to stop it and go back to my
Dr. I did and now I have different meds.

If you are feeling like I did, please call your Dr. There are so very many different types of A&D drugs that you and your Dr. need to find what works for you. Good Luck!

Thanks to all of you for your posts....

I have been on 300 for about 2 weeks. My appetite is quite low - I feel only like eating little bits at a time. Ginger ale is awesome and I am a bit addicted to Smarties at the moment. Drinking some high protein boost to get nutrients.

Anxiety is ok, but I am having these strange frontal headaches that feel like sinus headaches. I had this a while ago, when I was on Zoloft, and had a CT which showed it was not sinus.

Anyone have these types of headache - feels like eyestrain, very sensitive to light, but still feels bad with eyes closed and lights out??? If so, any remedies???

Thanks...

I get those frontal headaches as well and I'm extremely light sensitive. I even wear sunglasses on cloudy days. My Dr. just upped my daytime buspirone and I've had headaches, and dry mouth for a week. He seems to think it's from the tension of anxiety and not being able to relax. I am drinking more water and less coffee and have little appetite as well. My stomach is nervous so I eat little bits as well. I stock up on cereal and granola bars. Gatorade seems to help sometimes too. Hope this is helpful:)

Right now knowing there are people out there who can relate to what I deal with gives me strength. To hear others say words that could have come out of my mouth sometimes almost brings me to tears!

I do love cereal and am really enjoying fresh fruit.

Thanks for writing! We all have to stick together.

I am on Effexor XR 150. Personally, I love it. However, I sometimes do feel like it could be stronger. However, mine is combined with 1 mg Xananx ER. So, maybe yur doctor should try putting you on a "crazy ****tail" like that. Keep me posted about how you are making out on the 300 mg - very curious.
