I have been off medication for about nine months but my anxiety is now back with a vengeance, to the point of agoraphobia. I saw a psychiatrist today and he prescribed me the medication I was on before (Celexa) along with Ativan, to take until the Celexa kicks in. I've been prescribed Ativan before but never took it and I'm scared to take it now, especially since I read that it can be habit forming. Can anyone tell me about their (hopefully positive) experiences with Ativan?

Well, I got over my initial fear and actually took the Ativan- well 1/2 of the 1 mg pill and it did help me feel much better. :)

good job :) i had the same problem for a long time. i knew that if i could just take my little 1/2 mg. of ativan i would feel better but i just couldn't take it. the first time i finally did i felt like i was spinning out of control, not because of the medicine, because of what i thought the medicine was going to do. i was ready to call poison control or go the emergency room, it was so bad. but i got used to talking myself into believing that the medicine wouldn't hurt me and would really help. i'm glad you were able to take it and felt better :) best of luck to you
