Lexapro
My doctor recently prescribed me Lexapro. I took 1 pill which was 10mgs. About an hour later my head felt really weird almost a fuzzy feeling. By the time I got to work I was so sick to my stomach I had to leave. My doctor wants me to split the pill in half and try taking it at dinner time. I haven't though because I'm afraid. My husband thinks I should give it a try. But I don't know.

Give it a try and stick with it. I started Lexapro at 10mg 5 weeks ago and it has been a wonderful drug for me. That being said I had alot of side effects the first week that went away by the 2nd week. By week 2 I felt great and I have had no side effects since then.
When you start these drugs they can cause an increase in anxiety for a few days amongst other things, but it doesnt last and the long term good effects out way the start up period. I really didnt want to to take them either, but I am so glad I did, I feel like my old self, have more energy, and little to no anxiety.
They say depending on the person you will feel the effects of this drug between 2-8 weeks. Also take it at night about 2 hours before bed with a food in your stomach, you most likely will sleep off most of the side effects. I take mine at night and I sleep much better now.
So dont give up on it. Take them, give them a try and before you know it you wont even think twice about taking them because you will feel well.

all i can say about lexapro is that it has helped me a ton. i have been on it for 3 years and my strength is 10mg also. it took me at least one week for my body to get used to it. i'm not saying medicine is the way to go for everybody. but before this program, which i am in session 2, i thought i was the only one with this problem. lexapro helped me cope, so to speak, with these strange feelings of panic that made no sense to me. was it just the mental thought that the medicine would help? who knows.... but i love the fact my doctor was there for me (and still is now) at this point i can cut the dose in half. but as the tapes clearly say, don't stop what ever your are doing medication wise without talking to your doctor. so i say, talk to your doctor and find out if lexapro is the right thing for you. but please be reassured that all medication no matter what it is from my experience, may take awhile for your body to adjust to. please keep in contact on your progress, i was in the same boat. hope all goes well. this is just my opinion please talk to you dr. or pharmasist about possible alternatives if in the end lexapro doesn't work for you. all i know is, i was told lexapro doesn't have to be a "forever" thing"
 well wishes

I take 20mg (I'm a larger person though..) and it helped me a lot with the panic attacks. When I was having them in my sleep the doc upped me to the 20mg. I also take Concerta for ADD along with it but am wondering if it is having an opposite effect - going to track that a bit closer, that's for sure!!!
I didn't have any side effects with the Lexapro though, it is usually very well tolerated. I agree with the other pose, give it a shot and see what happens, try taking before bed, with a full stomach, whatever you have to do to get relief while you work through the program!!!
BLESSINGS!!!

I started Lexapro in January. My Dr. starting me on 5mg. The side effects were there for the first week and things started to get better. After 30 days I went back to the Dr for an update and she upped me to 10mg. The side effects came back for a couple of days to get used to the new dose. I have been taking the 10 mg since February.
It has helped a lot. I also have sinus problems and that sometimes contributes to my anxiety. I have used the program as well as I have gone to counseling to help deal with it and to calm myself down.
I would give the medication a try. It really does help. I never wanted to go on medication, but now I am glad I did.
