I have bi-polar, and I agree w/Cel and egriff. It's hard to accept that I need the meds, and the doctor has to switch them around sometimes because they can stop working well. I have tried many, many times to go off meds, sometimes cold turkey (very bad idea), sometimes very sensibly, weaning slowly with a dr. When I go off them slowly, it's not like anything dramatic happens, it's just that I don't want to get out of bed some days, and then I could be planning to start a company the next day. Sometimes even from hour to hour. One minute thinking it would be nice to just sleep, sleep, sleep, no thinking, the next, intricate ideas about the politcal situation in Iran and what does my cat really think of me, lol.
Therapists in the past have tried discussing the possibility that I may be bipolar and I have rejected the idea. Insisting it's pure depression/anxiety. After reading this post, I'm starting to think I should rethink the bipolar idea. U thoughts sound JUST like me from day to day! Thanks!

Good to hear from you I'm tired but sorry to hear things have not been going well for you lately. I hope your meds kick in as I know that is an important part of treatment for bi-polar. Like I said before the TEA forms will always be there when you are ready for them, so in the mean time I hope they find the right meds for your bi-polarism (is that even a word?) :)

Hi, everybody! I stumbled on to you guys today. I have been put on Savella about a month ago along with Pristiq that I have been taking for a year or two ( cymblata before that) I have Fibro along with the depression and anxiety. This week has been terrible! I never know if its a virus or the Fibro, but I'm beginning to think it is the meds. I am trying to decide if I should get off the meds and try something else or not. It is very scary after almost 30 years of different meds for this stuff. I just don't know what is the right action to take. Any ideas would helpful....Thanks! Edie :?
Edie, if you are motivated to work on yourself cbt and the TEA form exercise can help you turn your life around. But the key is you have to be ready and willing to put some work in doing them for ten or fifteen minutes daily. They have gotten a lot of people better and off of all their meds :)

So, MaryK0505, have you stopped flying and do you stay out of large buildings? If you do, then you will always have these feelings of anxiety. My big fear is public speaking. I had a panic attack in the middle of a speech in front of lots of people. It is now progressing to talking to large groups, being in meetings, etc. I know that it appears to be nothing compared to the situation most of you are feeling and dealing with, but it is overwhelming to me. I have joined toastmasters (a public speaking group) to overcome my fear. It has helped, but the anxiety is still there. I worry that I am going to freak out at work one day. I support my husband and two children so I really need my job. I stress out about the possibility of losing my job. I think we area all dealing with our own issues. It feels better to write these down. So far the program has increased my anxiety, but hopefully that is temporary.

Teresa W, Give the TEA forms a try for a month or two and if you do them everyday I think they will ease your anxiety about public speaking. It's usually the way we are thinking which is usually blown out of proportion that causes the anxiety and if you catch those thinking errors and correct them it will probably help you a great deal.

This is sound advice. The TEA forms have helped me keep my anxiety under control.

Good for you Arlenez. The TEA forms work really well if you are ready to dedicate yourself to them. I am so glad you and others on here are finding alternatives to meds.

I agree I started doing the TEA forms a little over three years ago and using them has helped me completely turn my life around :)
