You just might have to take it forever.
Maybe you need a trusting caring Dr.
Tranxene can also help.Hang in there.

Update:

My doctor now has me taking a half a pill every day instead of a whole pill one day and none the next. This has worked incredibly as far as the physical symptoms...no dizziness etc. I am still battling w/ anxiety and some depression feelings but I just started the program, on my second day to be exact, so I am hopeful this program will give me the tools I need to be off of medication. Only God knows I guess. I ask for a prayer from anyone who is willing :)
Thanks for listening, and as always, you all our in my prayers.
God Bless.

Lawgirl, try to focus more on the program than on rather you get off the med or not. So what if you don't stop the med. I know we hate taking meds, but I think if you will focus on the program, workbook, relaxing, etc, maybe you will be able to quit the meds eventually. I'm praying for you. Good luck.

Hello. I too tried to come off the Paxil a couple of times. Eventually ended up back on it after the birth of my daughter. Just recently had a depressive/anxiety episode after 5 years without any...doctor suggested that I go from 20-30mg in order to get back into remission. Any comments?

I have been on 30 mg of paxcil cr for about 5 years. I have been off it for 2 weeks cold turkey. Not a very good idea. I thought the verdigo would be the worst side effect, turns out it was the least of my problems. emotional rolloer coaster and didnt even realize it. Im off now so I am going to try to use the program and stay off, I could use some support. if anyone else is doing the same and would like to swap emails to support each other, please let me no.

My advice to you youngen, "Keep close contact with your doctor." Paxil withdrawl is why I had to be hospitalized. It worked for awhile, but then it didn't. I was given small doses at first, then was built up to over the legal limit. The doctor finally put me into the hospital so that I could be under supervision to help get my medication regulated. I'll pray for you, because withdrawl is an ugly ride. Ladyvols1967

Hi Lawgirl: Your original post was some time ago...I hope you have begun the program. My advice would be to not make any more changes to your medication while you are beginning the program if possible. I have been tapering off of 10 mg Paxil using a liquid suspension. Last year I decreased only 2 mg at a time, then waited at least two months before making another change! And I still had dizziness and anxiety symptoms, so I am not a bit surprised that your one pill every other day didn't work so well. This year, I am only decreasing 1 mg at a time, and I still notice about 8 weeks of feeling unsteady, a little anxious, before I level out. Paxil is supposed to be one of the hardest to get off of, just because of the side effects, but I am so sensitive to medications that I don't want to switch to something else then taper off. Some people switch to Prozac then taper off of that.

I was thinking of trying to come off my paxil but wow I had no idea it was so hard to come off of cause of side effects and you guys seem to be on such small dosages of it I have been on it for 10yrs and am up to 40mg 2x a day. I just see a normal family doc for it and am now thinking I need to do the whole program first then see a pych doc and work on getting off of it very very slowly.
