Paxil or Effexor
I've only been on Paxil, but it took me several months to wean off of it with horrible side effects(tingly head, being the worst). I also do not remember most of the years I was on the Paxil, which is upsetting, as it was during my 2 youngest children's lives. I am now drug-free and 20 pounds lighter, and although I have Panic Attacks, I had them on the Paxil, too. My husband notices a huge difference--he says I was "numb" on Paxil and also started becoming Manic, which is why I now choose to be drug-free--but I'm still limiting what I do, which is so frustrating!!
Hi, I too have been on Paxil and paxil CR for over 10 years. I have gotten off it several times. This time I am doing it right with my doctor's help. I had no side effects going on it and have had no side eeffects coming off of it. My own advice would be try what the doctor suggests and see what works for you. Each drug works with individuals differently. I just happened to get lucky and find the one that worked the first time out. Always, always, always follow your doctor's orders. It is most important. Best of luck.

Try Pristiq! ! I was sooooo scare of anti depressants and my psych. Dr put me on Pristiq because of its low side effects. Its a brand new drug. Its like the new version of Effexor. I am sensitive to anti depressants and this one didn't give me any bad side effects at all. My P.DR says all her patiences that are on it like it a lot and I really trust her advice. It's also nice because it's the newest one out and thats good. Ask for samples of it. Just curious, what do you suffer with? Anxiety? Depression? Both? I have Panic Disorder and Major Depressive Disorder. seeing a therapist helps me a lot but the Pristiq helps me to get over things faster and be more rational. GOOD LUCK!!!!!!!!!
PS- was on PaxilCR and I didn't like it. Just my experience.

Sml, I would suggest you do a lot of research regarding the medications and options avaliable for curing/controlling anxiety before you jump on board the SSRI train. I have developed a blog that talks freely of my experience on SSRI's as well as has article's posted by experts and their experience on SSRI's. Today I have posted an expert article regarding a young man's experience on Paxil. I might suggest you check my page out as part of your research.
I have also posted my recipe for successful control over my anxiety and panic attacks. If you use my steps followed with this Stress Center program you will never need the Paxil--Promise.
