I have been on prozac fot the last 6 years. It worked for several years, But recently since March I have been having horrible anxiety, panic attacks, and my OCD has been awful. Yesterday I went to my doctor and he is taking me off of the prozac and putting me on lexapro. I am concerned about this becuase I have been on 60mg's of prozac and he wants me to stop it right now and start the lexapro tonight. Has anyone heard of this? Can your body build up a tolerence to the prozac if you take it for an extended amount of time? I am so anxious to start the new med. Is anyone on Lexapro and does it work?

I have been on Lexapro for 3 years. It has done wonders for my anxiety issues, which in turn has reduced my depression. Sometimes I believe that the Lexapro numbs my feelings a bit, but when I weigh the pros and cons, the meds win out. I never want to go back to how I was before. Good luck to you.

Ramp down the prozac slowly. Ramp up the Lexapro slowly.
I'd take at least a month to do each.

In the meantime if you try this, you may find you don't need the meds at all:
1. Get 2 hours a day of viggouious exercise
2. Cut out all caffene from your diet
3. Reduce sugar drastically (suger fuels anxiety)
4) Meditate and practice your spritual beliefs daily
5) Include fish oil and magnesium in your diet

God bless and peace be with you :)
