Hey Guys, is it just me or is Zoloft one hard drug to get off of?? I would love to hear any and all of your experiences with getting off of the med. I talked to my dr. and I was once on 50 mg, then I cut back to 25mg stayed their for about 6 mo. or so, then Dr. told me to cut in half again and do 12.5 mg. for 1 month and then stop, so I have done that for a month and I started doing it every other day, I think I will do better if i do the every other day thing for a while,a then every two days and so on, I have been on this med for about 7 years now and tried to get off of it a few times, I always get the withdrawl symptoms and go back on it, But I want off for good, I have completed the program a while back and feel very confident in my Cognative Behavioral skills, and now I just want this darn drug out of my system! so now that I am doing it every other day I get the dizzieness and buzzy feeling on the days that I dont take it, i would have thought that weening to such a small dose would help with that, but apparently not, so any advice guys??
Thanks!
getting off Zoloft once and for all
I don't have specific experience with Zoloft, but I've taken Celexa, Remeron, and Lexapro. I hate the withdrawal experiences so once I get to the lower dosage (say 12.5mg in your case), then I start cutting small amounts off the pills every day so I can slowly reduce the meds. If you want, you can cut all the pills in advance so you can compare the sizes. It generally reduces the withdrawal, but it's a bit tedious. Of course your doctor will likely tell you it's a waste of time....just my thoughts.
