exercise while on antidepressants
Johnboy,
I just posted about how I was listening to a radio program on Friday where an author who had written a book on PMS said that studies showed that 30 minutes of exercise was equal to 20 mg of an antidepressant!
I've actually read a book that encouraged exercise to increase the benefits of antidepressants as well! A common side effect of some anti-depressants is weight gain so it makes sense that exercise will help with that. I had a friend who gained a lot of weight on an anti-depressant after she had been too slim from not eating because of severe anxiety. She used to say, "I guess now I'm fat, but happy." The truth of the matter is that she wasn't happy with her weight gain at all. I think she gained so much that she started not to recieve the benefits from the anti-depressant, but had the side effect of massive weight gain.
Take care,
