I am thinking about going back on meds after about 5 months off. The anxiety is back and I don't know if I can do it with herbs or on my own. It debilitates me. I feel weak if I go back on and wonder if it is all neccessary. I have a bro who is/was very against any type of meds for these problems. According to him, you should be able to achieve anything within you and with good nutrition, etc. Kind of a scientology thinking I guess. I still don't understand why I can't "snap" out of it or what even made it come back in the first place.
How safe is it to stay on meds for long periods of time? Are there people who take them their whole life? I thought they were just a stepping stone and most people didn't stay on them for more than a year or so. Thanks for any words of encouragement you all can give me. I think I am calling my doc today and getting an appointment.
Permission to go back on meds
Hi skj,
I have been on Zoloft for a long time. Yes, some people stay on meds their whole life.
I don't take advice from others who tells me I don't need to be on meds. I know what works best for me. I know what state my mind is in. I have, had people who go to Church tell me that people don't need meds. To me they are playing God. God gave man the knowledge to make meds. My Pastor believes in people being on meds till they get better, and he also supports people who has to stay on them their whole life.
I would listen to myself, and do what was best for me. It is ok, to be on meds.

I have been on zoloft for ten years. My psychiatrist said that I should stay on it for life. I still take zoloft and am doing the program to see if I can get off the zoloft. I am trying and I hope that I can be successful. I would not listen to someone who does not believe in medicine. Medicine helps you. Would he say that to someone with a heart condition or diabetic. I don't think so. Do what you feel is right for you. Good luck, Leopolda

Don't listen anyone but yourself. If you feel that you need to go back on again do it. It does not mean you have to stay on forever. I just started taking zoloft myself. I felt at this time in my life I just can't go on with something to help me. I tried so hard not to go on. I mean most people start the program to try and go off well I was the opposite. I think at this point in my life and dealing with a marriage that is not to great I need it. I tried to be strong but I feel I need something to just get me out of this funk so I can then try the program again and maybe however long it takes I can go off. I have a friend who was on zoloft for a year and went off and is no not doing well and is going to go on it again. So do waht is best for you only you walk in your shoes and know how you feel. Hope this helps.
Hi, I've been on meds, and many of them for 3 years now. I don't plan to get off of them. I have talked with 2 different people that have been on clonazepam , one for 25 years, the other for 30 yesrs. Don't let any one force you to either be off, or on meds. let the descision be between you, and your doctor. Plus you know your mind, and body better than anyone else. Take care.

i have been on meds since I was like 18 and im now 25. i want more than anything to come off. I too have a sister who is into natural healing that wants me off. I attempted to come off and got bad anxiety and depression after a week she told me to stick it out but i didnt think i could do it i had this feeling in my head like i couldn sit still or I was going to have a seizure. She is prob right I prob could have stuck it out.. but who wants to do that to themselves? if you have been off for that long you have made it further than i could and i am proud of you! I would try and make yourself happy without them but you know what is best for yourself. how did you come off without freaking out like i did? how long did it take?
Hi SKJ,
You have made a huge step to free yourself of the meds. Look at what Leopolda and Stacy have gone through and wish they were off the stuff. If you feel you must take something, why not take the opportunity to give some herbs and supplements a chance.
Here are a few :
<A HREF="http://webhealthclinic.com/Battling-Dep ... e=Klonopin" TARGET=_blank>http://webhealthclinic.com/Battling-Dep ... lonopin</A>
Also works in place of Zoloft, Lexapro and bunch of others.
I read some old posts, <A HREF="http://bbs.stresscenter.com/eve/forums? ... 7831011346" TARGET=_blank>click here</A> that indicate Rescue Remedy is a good alternative try this place:

Don't you deserve to feel better without side effects or other problems down the road, or getting jerked around by doctors that want to switch from one thing to another?
You are in the position that you are free of the drugs and you want to go back?
What about an alternative therapy?

You have choices.
