Has anyone taken nexium for acid reflux or any other stomach problems? i had been taking prevacid for 1.5yrs and it seemed to stop working so my doc switched me to nexium(as i have heard it is quite well) my biggest complaint other than acid is the feeling of constant nausea. so the nexium made me nauscious but also helped a bit with the nausea(i know, makes no sense), but in two weeks i gained 10pounds and cant figure anything else out to be the cause other than the nexium. anyone else take this and find weight gain? so i discontinued it and started the prevacid again, and the acid burning is fine, but i am so very nauscious. Seems to be a lose lose situation here? just wanted others opinions on this med? thanks and have a great day!!

HI TERAG MY HUSBAND HAS A PRESCRIPTION OF NEXIUM AS DOES MY 75 YR OLD MY. I HAVE NOT KNOWN OF ANY PROBLEMS WITH EITHER OF THEM NOR ANY WEIGHT GAIN. COULD IT BE THAT YOU ARE GAINING WEIGHT BECAUSE YOU CAN EAT WITH OUT THE FEAR OF BURN OR STOMACH UPSET? I ALSO TAKE IT FROM TIME TO TIME FOR GUT BURN...I HOPE THIS HELPS.

LOVE my nexium and no, not a single pound in wt gain, been on it 10 months. I have to agree with the above person who said maybe it is because you can FINALLY eat again. Nexium does NOTHING to make you gain weight, it merely stops the production of acid in the lining of your gut, it is called a Proton Pump Inhibitor.

hey, thanks for the feedback everyone. I actually stopped the nexium and went back to the prevacid, and weight gain stopped. Being on the nexium, I actually ate less than before, because it made me more nauscious, and not being on it, i still, get nauscious from eating, so I really cant eat much, ever. So, the weight gain could have only come from the nexium as nothing else was different in my life. Hopefully one day i will get a call from the specialist and figure it all out. Unitl then, I will continue on with the prevacid, which is a pretty good drug as well. thanks everyone.

I am trying to wean off nexium. It has caused me to gain weight and have pains. I was on Prilosec previously and didn't gain. I want to go back to that. I'm calling my Dr today to discuss.
