Ativan Question

Does anyone know how to taper off Ativan. I've been taking .5mg 2x a day for three months and would like to stop.

Talk with your doctor on this. I think you need to go to .25 for a week twice a day then .25 once a day for a week and then off, but check with your doctor. Email a pharmacist also.

Otama,
while on Ativan did you have heartburn issue or throat and mouth burning with it? I am using .25 twice a day and have a heartburn issue with it.

DIAA - I never noticed any side effects from Ativan, but I'm taking Zoloft also and having side effects from that.

I learned the hard way to never just quit Ativan, I thought I could do that, I went through a horrible time for about 6 months, could not sleep or eat, didn't know what was wrong with me. So I went back on a much smaller dose. The doctor now tells me to cut back in .25 increments. Talk with your doctor before you do anything!!! Learn from my mistake!!!

i think everyone responds differently...i was on it once a day for two years and then just started taking it when i had really bad days...now i'm off it completely. however i was on effexor and it was hell getting off that one.
