bad side effects with ssri drugs anyone else?

Has anybody had this same problem. Every SSRI drug so far I have taken has given me terrible dizziness and lightheadedness. It is pretty unbearable. I have extreme anxiey and ocd and just want to feel better but can't find the right drug.

Hi, I have had some issues starting any medication. Have you asked your dr if these side effects may dissappear if you give your body a couple of weeks to get used to it?
I am currently experiencing that from the Elavil I am trying, but I will give it some time to adjust.
At this point a couple weeks of discomfort is worth the possibility of a better life...

the dizziness almost impaired me from driving and other things. I am not sure I can take that side effect. that was on one 5 mg tablet of lexapro, a very small dose according to my doctor.

I have been on Paxil and Prozac- both SSRIs- in the past. Both made me feel a little spacey, lightheaded, and beweildered. With withdrawal from Paxil I had "brain zaps" and severe dizzy spells that made it difficult for balance and driving. Tell your doctor about these symptoms. There are other medications that may not cause these symptoms. Everyone is different. In my case, it turned out these medications did not work for me due to the side effects and the fact that I am bipolar so they were all wrong in every kind of way. Good luck!

Do they make a 5mg of Lexapro?? I had to cut my 10's in half to start at 5, then quarter to go up to 7.5 and now on 10. Side effects were minimal by going so gradual. Best of luck.

I had to cut my 10's in half also. Still too much for me. I am getting worried that there won't be a drug out there for me that is going to work!!!
