Hi Everyone,
I have been on effexor since April 08 and ever since I have absolutely no appetite- none. I went from 140ibs to a current 123ibs. and dropping.. my doctor doesnt seem to be worried but I am feeling drained all the time due to the lack of food, I can barely push myself to eat anything. Other than this the med has been great to me. Has anyone else had this experience? any suggestions? I had trouble with SSRIs so this was a great option but I cant afford to buy a new wardrobe that I seem to need now due to the massive weight loss! help!

I was Effexor XR a couple years back and had no problem with it. The only problem I had was that it made me think things that I would normally not, and they were scary. It greatly helped my anxiety though, I am currently on Lexapro and s far so good, but I am on a low dose.
If you are losing a massive amount of weight and have no appetite you need to tell your DR that you want to try something else. If you DR doesnt seemed worried than maybe it's time to switch DR's and go elsewhere. Im not to fond of DR's that don't considerate their patients concerns. You have to be your own DR at times and sadly, but true, we know our bodies better than they do.
My suggestion, find someone else so you get better care, or demand that he try you on something else. Good luck and keep us posted!
