Steve,
I have taken effexor for over two years and it does work fast (less than two weeks). At the time, I was dealing with depression and I tried many different medicines. This change of medicine brought me out of the depression. I thank my psychiatrist and the medicine for stabilizing my life.

Good to hear - I'm on my 4th week and I'm feeling worlds better than I was before (I've tried some others in the past with no success, but this one definitely seems to be doing the trick) that and this program seem to be a great combination for me - hoping it's more the program, but I'll take whatever I can get:)

I have been taking effexor xr for my anxiety and panic disorder for about 2 months now. I have noticed a huge change, my anxiety has been very low and I havent had any panic attacks during this time. I have been able to go about normal activities for the first time since being diagnosed with GAD and panic disorder. My doctor said I would probably only need to be on it for 3-6 months, and hes thinking about starting to taper off my dosage next month. I have only been taking a small dosage (75mg, so I am hoping it wont be too difficult to come off of. Has anyone else had any experience tapering off this medication?
thanks for the reply it is encouraging to know people have had success with this drug you hear so many negative things it is great to hear when someone has something positive to say. has anyone had trouble with obsessive thinking that has always been my biggest problem getting a thought stuck in my head and dwelling on it the scary ones are really depressing !! i have used the session 10 tape so much it has been such a help to me plus having a loving caring wife that i can share things with has been a blessing to me
