starting lexapro
I started Lex 10mg 8 weeks ago and have found it to work wonderfully. I have no anxiety. I take it for anxiety and severe PMS (not for depression)and it has rid me of both rather quickly.
It has the least amount of side effects as well, this is the first med I have tried. The first 2 weeks can be rough, but are not horrible. I had some anxiety when starting, but this was no worse than what I was having before meds, and some tingling sensations as well as lack of appetite and stomach upset. But this only lasted about a week and by week 2 I felt great, tons of energy returned. Now it has leveled off and I feel like my old self without the anxiety and pms.I dont even know I take a med.
So I find it to be a good drug. I no longer worry and have a clear mind. I sleep better too. I think you should try and and stick through the side effects because the benefits of feeling good are worth it. I am here is you need support.
Good luck.

Lexapro has been fantastic for me. I have been taking it for very many years since the drug was first introduced in the market. I take it for generalized anxiety with panic disorder, depression, and also helps with PTSD symptoms. I get very good restful sleep with the medication and the drug itself is very safe with hardly any side effects. It is a good newer drug. It will definitely help.
I had been on Lexapro for a year then came off it. It did help with the anxiety and panic attacks but I put on 35 pounds from it. Right now I am not on anything. My doctor wants me to start effexor but I am refusing because of the tendency I have to the weight gain. I am just going to work this program and hopefully this will be the start of a new me. Good Luck to you. Remember it doesn't work the same for everyone. It just worked that way for me.
Yup had them for a few days in my arms and chest. My doctor said it was normal and they would go away in a few days which they did. It didnt last long, just about 2-3 minutes. Usually occured about 2 hours after taking the pill and it felt like a burning/tingling sensation.
If you are just strating up the Lex than I wouldnt worry as it is a common side effect that will go away.
I have no side effects now and havent had any since about week 2 or 3. I am on week 8 now and feel great!
