Has anyone ever taken imipramine and had succes with it.I am concerned becuse my doctor wants me to take E.K.G.'s while I am on the medication and I would like to know why? He says it is just a precautionary measure. Precautionary measure from what? IF anyone has ever taken imipramine with great succes please let me know! And if you did, how long did you take it? and did you have to have a E.K.G.?
I was satisfied with the way it made me feel until I was written an order for an E.K.G. to ne done before my next appointment time. NOw I am scared to death wondering if this medication is going to have a bad effect on my heart.I am desparatly seeking answers.

Hi there,
I am currently on Imp and have been since November and it does help with my migraines. I have few to none using it. However, I have gained about 40 pounds taking it... :(
Everyone is different. Every doctor is different. I'm sure he has a good reason for requesting the EKGs to be done. Next time you see him, make sure he explains everything to the T. I have learned with my doctors to NEVER feel like they've said enough. I ask so many questions that they probably hate seeing me... anyway, good luck with Imipramine. And watch what you eat! Don't be like me!

Hi, Imipramine has been around a LONG time and is very good for anxiety. I took it years ago for at least 5 yrs. (dont remember exactly).
I dont know what your doc is asking for ekg about I never had to have those when I was on it. Do you take any other meds.? Maybe that would have something to do with it. I would ask my dr. Don`t worry it is a good med.,it wont hurt you. go ahead and get the ekg if you have the insurance to cover it. Let us know how it goes. Take care

I don't take imipramine personally, but both my cousin and my aunt are on it. They don't have to have EKGs done, and their doctor never mentioned anything about it. So I am not sure why your doctor would want you to get them done.
Did you ever ask your doctor why he would want you to get them done, even as a precautionary measure? You should definitely ask him.

My old doctor sent me to get EKGs done when I first started having anxiety back in 2002, but he was just making sure it was anxiety and nothing else. Maybe that is what he meant by precautionary? Ruling out heart problems just to make sure it's anxiety? Other than that, I don't know why he would do that.
Kind words can be short and easy to speak, but their echoes are truly endless.....Mother Theresa
