Since my depression and anxeity has been at its worse, i have started taking prescription painkillers. IM not prescribed to them, but i have no problem getting percocet, vicodin, codeine and even oxycontin. I know i need to stop, but i have been taking up to 15 vicodin and 9 percocet a day, is it safe to just stop?
Suddenly stopping can be harmful. It is very harmful to be taking as much as you do also. My mother died from an oxy-contin overdose. She struggled with addiction with prescription drugs for 30 years. She was prescribed the medicine she overdosed from. I would suggest a detox program. If you do it alone, it will be very difficult. Get help while you still can. If you need anyone to talk to, you can im me. Take care.
the worst part about it is i know how harmful it is for me, yet i keep doing it. the only time i actually crave it is in the evenings... usually when im by myself. I dont take that amount everyday, but i know my liver is going to let me know one of these days... when you say detox, you mean at a hospital or facility right, not just dotoxing my body?
I take Xanax although they are not prescribed to me - they are given to me only when someone else that sees me has them. If I have them, I take them. If I don't have them, I don't think about it and don't ask for them. But if I have them, I take them until they are all gone. Good luck on your journney.
anew....whether you make excuses as to when you take them and when you dont the point is you do and you say yourself that you need them. Thats an addiction my freind. You need to contact your local AA or Drug awareness program and get into a program or a rehab.
I am not a doctor so I cant advise you on stopping or what is to much to take. I can tell you though that no amount of drugs will EVER change the situations in your life.
You are the only one that can and if you are on drugs you just wont be able to do that.
Please dont let this destroy your chance at a happy life. Its still early enough it sounds that you have some sort of awareness of what your doing. And being here I take it your reaching out for help so please take the advice of a freind and go get that help.
If you dont know where to call call your local hospital. They will direct you to the best programs for you.
Anew....please give yourself the life you deserve. Take the steps to get a healthy body and mind so that you can overcome your fears and move forward to be all that you can be!
Good luck to you.
I hope that you take control of your destiny and do it.

Suboxone is a medication that you can take to get of the opiates. It fools the mind into thinking you have opiates on board so that you don't go through withdrawal. Typically, the drug needs to be taken for a while and then tapered.
You don't get the high you would get while taking the opiates, in fact if you take an opiate while on Subaxone, you will make yourself sick.
You can go through rehab or do this as an outpatient through your Dr. You can do a google search on Dr.s the prescribe this medicine as not all MD's are able to prescribe this drug. It is very controlled and popular on the streets for those that can't score for whtaever reason.
Make a life decision to get off that garbage for yourself and those that love and care about you.

For years I was addicted to pain med's, It started with several weeks of kidney stone attacks and after being pumped up with only some of the strongest pain meds available I was hooked. I did not want this but do to pain I got hooked. Then had hard time geeting off the pain meds. I went into a two week rehab and I suggest this for anyone suffering from long term addiction or if your body is used to large amounts of opiates. It pays to get away and get help... You can beat this but you must take the steps to help your self. I believe getting off the opiates will allow you to apply this program with even faster success...having drugs in your system will only stifle the process...Time to get Clean, you have your whole life ahead of you..You need to tell your self I can live with out drugs..And Lord knows you can, Good luck and God speed, you hold the ball, what are you going to do with it?????
Anew...I have taken pain meds including all of what you have mentioned and you have taken the right step to getting off of them just by admitting how much you take and that they are bad for you. Getting sober is not easy but VERY worth it. I got sober cause I got pregnant.. but this didn't stop my fiance. We are no longer together cause he let the drugs rule his life.. don't do the same.. You may loose everything.. He did.. If you don't go thru rehab and you do this detox yourself..first wheene yourself or you will go thru horrible withdrawls, including shakes, body aches and many more. You can do this, I did and it was the best thing I ever did.. first you need to stay completely away from the people you get them from..don't call them at all. If your friends are doing them with you.. get away from those friends at least until you are clean..then you can help them.. we are all here for you and if you need to talk to someone that has been there email me at josie.aj@gmail.com. I will help however I can. Remember you can get clean and you are on the right road to recovery.
