Hi Everyone,I will try to make it quick: I left my purse an hour and a half away over the holidays and had no meds for about 5 days.. I have been doing really really well so far with the program too, and felt much better than when I was on it.. I didn't feel nauseated if I didnt eat every 3 hours on the clock, I didn't feel exhausted by the evening.. didnt have the really weird dreams,no slightly heavy thinking feeling, not depressed but like someone had a thumb on me, and felt happy, yes happy off it.. and it has taken all of my sex drive.. terrible but sex repulses me! sucks! has anyone had any of these experiences on it? I tried one night on it again just to see and felt all the same crap as above the next day.. now off today feeling better!

Any suggestions? I am going to keep modifying my life which is working well so far and stay off of it, but would love if anyone has any experiences!

Thanks a million and cheers to a great new year.. as the journey continues for all of us!

Hi Maeggie,

I took Zoloft, and like you, felt suppressed. I lost my sex drive-which is wonderful to have because I really love my husband, but I felt tired, numb, and out of it. Turns out, I was a teensy bit better after having taken it because I got a break from the depression. But honestly, I did not feel much different in terms of moods after going off of it-it turns out I was suffering from major nasal polyps and had to have surgery. I was barely getting any oxygen and was not sleeping well. That was the source of my depression mostly.

I don't think meds are any more than a band aid. You are stronger than you thought-I was like that too. I applaud you. Just remember, it can damage your body if you do not wean yourself off under a doctor's plan. Good Luck and Happy New Year!

HI Nicolle..

Thanks for the response, yes numb inside and out is so right! when I was on celexa the sex drive wasnt bad but I would sweat alot and the anxiety was worse. I am having a hard time with the weaning off b.c im only on 50mg which comes in capsule form not pill (celexa you could manually change the dose) do you think I should go get a script for 25mg or is 50 pretty low anyways?

have you changed meds? if so did the sex drive change? was it better off of it?

I AGREE! that is also how i feel the meds help take the edge off so I can function well but hinder in many other ways- your surgury sounds painful! I hope you have recovered well and are back to snap! Do you honestly feel your depression stemmed from that?

I have mild ocd just recently diagnosed and since have felt less depressed b.c I understand why I feel these ways, learning to manage it slowly and understanding the anxiety, killed it. Do you believe this could be my trigger? Im just curious as to your discoveries!

Again, I appreciate your time and experiences!

I was on Zoloft for over three years. Gradually, I noticed memory loss and unclear thinking especially under stressful situations. I also noticed that my vision was becoming blurred.

After three years, the memeory loss became so intense that I it created problems between my wife and me. I had lasic eye surgery five years before and due to blurred vision, I thought that my eyes were changing shape and that I needed a tweek.

After traveling five hours for an eye exam and spending additional $$ for lodging and food, the eye doctor told me that my eye shape was perfect and that the Zoloft was most likely causing excessive pressure on my eyes.

I told my family doctor that I wanted off the Zoloft. He cut back my dosage and immediatly I noticed improvement in both my memory and vision. I am currently off all meds. My vision and memory are fine, however, I do battle depression, especially during the winter months. Everyone is different so perhaps Zoloft will work for you. If not perhaps this may explain some memory and vision side effects.

HI
I am a beginner as of yesterday. I have Parkinson's Disease. I have thought from the diagnosis 8 years ago that I caused it. God knows what took me so long to connect the dots but I am sure now it stems from anxiety. The neurologist wants me to go Zoloft but so far I have not.I would like to thank you all for the info on this med. At this point I am hopeful that the program will help alleviate the underlying cause of my disease!

I've been on Zoloft for a number of years and felt that it really helped with the up and down "roller coaster" emotions that had been a nightmare for me.
Now, after hearing some of your experiences, I realize that I have some of those same problems....numb, eyes worsening and memory lose.
I'm going to bring these things to my doctor's attention. Perhaps it is time for a switch.
I do not care for the numb, listless feeling and definitely don't want the eye sight and memory to worsen.
Thanks for posting.....and making me think this all over.
Best of luck to ALL.

I took Zoloft for a short while about 7 years ago and until recently have taken no medication for depression. Zoloft did help me deal with depression and got me focused on improving myself. It did not take away my desire for sex or my ability to become aroused, it just made it very difficult to orgasm. Other than that I noticed no side effects.

Hi All,
I've been fighting my depression and anxiety for four years now and started on the Zoloft and am now on Welbutrin. Zoloft completely took away my sex drive. All of the medications I've taken have taken it away except the Welbutrin. "BUT," I have a terrible side effect from the Welbutrin, which is that it makes me pissed and bark at my kids and husband, whichh is just not like me, no patience, etc., so my doctor gave me Neurontin for the side effect and that has taken care of it and also taken away the sex drive. Initially when I started on the Welbutrin I got a sex drive back plus a bit, but the Neurontin killed it and I've tried to get off the Neurontin, but can't. It's horrible. Now, back to the Zoloft, it seemed to help with my depression and anxiety, but I had some of the same feelings as some of you did. Sex also repulsed me, my husband repulsed me and it has put a huge strain on our marriage. Can't blame him. He doesn't know about what I go through or my depression because he, like everyone in my family, doesn't understand and I'm judged and treated differently. One of the biggest problems, also, with Zoloft was my sweating. It was horrible! It's the norepinephrine in the medication that causes the sweating. Then I didn't feel like it was working for me, so I started on Cymbalta, and I sweated even worse. It worked better for me, but I noticed that I wasn't able to cry or have certain feelings like I should have. Maybe my dose was too high. They started me on the highest dose. This also gave me no sex drive and still with the repulsion for my husband. I got off of that med mainly because of the sweating. My doctor, psyciatrist, had said that all of the antidepressent medications take away the sex drive. It's just the way it is. With the exception of Welbutrin. But the Neurontin takes away my memory. It's scary and I don't like it at all. Everything so far has killed my memory. We're now going to try something else, supposedly. My doctor has me take the MMPI-2 test along with other tests before he changes my medication to see where I'm at. I've tried and am in counseling, therapy, and I know what the tools are to help with my disorder, but it's hard and I'm not getting any better. Just tried to get off the meds a few weeks ago, really thought I was ready, and I just spiralled down. I don't know a soul with the same problem and I wish I had someone to talk to or a friend or two. I have two babies, 2 and 4, and my husband, and my dad lives in a little house we built for him out in the backyard, and I can't enjoy them, my babies and my husband and the rest of my family and life like I wish I could and should be able to. I would do just about anything to get help or help myself. This is my first time on the website and can't stop reading. If there's any other questions I can answer about Zoloft or any other medication, please don't hesitate to ask.
Sincerely.......
