Hi all,

Well I had reached the point a few weeks ago when I thought "I should be on meds" but meds are a HUGE fear of mine so I went a therapist and psychiatrist and got a prescription for Lexapro (5mg) but this is only my second day on it and the past 72 hours have been hell...it started before I even took it but I have myself feeling so incredibly sick and off kilter I'm wondering "is this really worth it?" I feel so low and out of control. My friends and family keep telling me to take it but I dont know what to do...I really hate being on it and feel like I cant function (I didnt sleep last night and at work all I've been doing is obsessing over the stupid pill). HELP!

I know how yu feel. I think a lot of people with anxiety, panic and depression have a hard time going on meds. I was on paxil about 10 years ago and then worked my way off it. I just recently decided I needed to start back up. It was much easier this time around because I knew it would work to help me get over the hump.

Give the meds a chance. How about taking them at a different time of day? When I first started I was taking them at night and would wake up at 3am and not be able to go back to sleep.

Do you have some of the tapes you can listen to. I have even taken them to work with me so I can listen for a quick affirmation that I can do this and I will be fine. Call StressCenter for some advice but do what you can to stay on the meds and let them do their thing.

So many people around you are on medication for different things and you don't think any worse of them do you? Being on medication is fine and what you need to do for now. It will not be forever so accept it and stop obsessing about it. It's just what you need to do right now to live your life. Let it help you and most importantly help youself.

Let us know how you are doing. We are all pulling for you!

Give the Lexapro a chance, it has worked wonders for me. I have been on 10mg for 4 months and now feel great. The beginning can be rough, but it is manageable and only lasts about 1-2 weeks. Stick with it, alot of what you are feeling is your anxiety NOT the meds. I am here if you need any help.
