Cymbalta
Anyone with good/bad experiences with cymbalta? I dont want to take it for the obvious reasons people with anxiety dont want to take meds. Ive read every side effect that isn't even listed on the Rx and its freaked me out. My issue is that I obsess on health related issues (like Im sure I have heart disease because my choles. was 240 and I am 43) This freaked me so bad, I insisted I go to a cardiologist and get a stress test - and you know what - everything is fine. But Im sure the little soreness I get in breasts are heart related - and I know if someone told me what I wrote here - I would tell them they have nothing to worry about! I want this to stop!!!!

the only anti dep/anti anxiety long term med I was on was Paxil and it was for 4 yrs - It def. took the edge off and I was very happy all the time. I decided to come off - the withdrawls lasted a month and slowly my symptoms came back and came back worse. I dont know if it was the Paxil, so the doc wanted me to try something different. But Im not sure meds are the "cure".
I have been on 60 mgs of Cymbalta for three years and it has been helpful. The only real side effect I have experienced is insomnia, but I have always had trouble with sleep so it's hard to say if it's the medication. My mood has occasional lows but nothing like before I started the medication. So, I'd recommend it.
i recently took cymbalta for a few months. i'd been going to counseling for a few months before starting it and she thought i should try something to help stablize my mood cause i get very emotional. for my cymbalta definitely helped my mood, i felt somewhat better within only a few weeks but for me i had side effects, like dry mouth and some trouble sleeping but mainly why i stopped taking it was that it just gave me an odd feeling i can't really explain, i just didn't feel like me, if it weren't for the side effects i would've kept taking it...i have a friend who absolutely loved it. and another who had a bad experience with it. i think with medication it just takes time to find what works for you. so i say, if you wanna try it, do, but stay aware of changes and talk to your doctor. it might now work for you, but it might be exactly what you need. won' know till you try. even though i know it's frustrating finding something that works
My cholesterol was 367 3 mos. ago and my Triglycerides were over 1000. It's hereditary and like you, I went and the heart checked. I went and had a 3D Cardiac Angiogram, which is like a heart catherization, but non-invasive. I came back with a Calcium score of "0" and no sign of any plaque.
Personally, I don't care for Cymbalta, Effexor, or Serzone. These are called SNRI's, not SSRI's. The SNRI's work on both Serotonin and Norepinephrine. Serotonin is the most widely understood neurotransmitter amongst the three (Dopamine, Norepinephrine, and Serotonin). Most people do well the the SSRI's rather then the SNRI's. I'm an example. I started on Serzone many years ago, it pooped out on me last year and I am worse now than I ever was. I'm still on the drug, tapering now for the last 6 months to get off. At the same time, I started Lexapro (Serotonin only drug) and it really seems like it's starting to work here on week 3. These are just my thoughts after tons of research. Always check with your Dr. before starting any drug treatment regimen.
