Trying to figure out why my 50mg Paxil hasn't kicked back in yet.

Have been on a low dose since around 2001. Due to some issues at home recently, I started having morning crying spells so my doc started to increase the Paxil until I got to 50mg.

Was on 50mg for about a month. Dropped to 37.5mg due to night sweats. Stayed on 37.5mg for 3 days and on the 4th day, got back on 50mg because after only 3 days on the reduced dose, I was boo-hooing again.

Today is my 6th day back on the 50mg and I'm still not feeling as good as I was before I dropped down to 37.5mg.

Anyone done this before with your dose? I figured I'd feel good as soon as I got back on the higher dose - especially since I was only on the lower dose for 3 days.

Thanks.

Hey there. I was taking 50 and had to go up to 67.5. Now I am in the process of tapering back down to 50. I was amazed at how long it took for the extra dose of Paxil to kick in. It took about 4 weeks. So, even though you were only on the lower dose for 3 days, it may take some time to even out your serotonin levels. Just hang in there...it will work itself out. Ask me any questions you like about Paxil...I have been on it for 10 years now.

4 weeks? Geez....how do you feel now? Why are you going back down? Out of all the side effects, I think the sweating is what kills me the most. That was why I dropped the dose to begin with. I finally decided to just suck it up and deal with the sweating. I'll take that over the crying spells.

If you're looking at 67.5mg, are you taking it for depression? OCD? I also have OCD and my doc was talking about possibly going up to 75mg to help with that. I told him most importantly, I need to get rid of the crying spells. I'll deal with the OCD later. It's more moderate, anyway, and doesn't interfere with my daily routine too bad. Doc just wants to make sure I'm on my meds so he gets paid. :)

Thanks for your response. I appreciate it.
