Greetings.

I'm new to this forum. Just signed up to receive Lucinda's program.

Has anyone had trouble with feeling more depressed/increased anxiety when you are adjusting doses of your meds, increasing, decreasing, tapering, or even skipping a couple of doses?

I've had so much trouble with this. I've tried a variety of SSRI's at low doses - but they make the anxiety worse. I seem very sensitive to drugs in general. It scares me.

I have some mild OCD and GAD. If you can imagine this makes me worry even more.

Any advice would be appreciated. Any professionals that could provide some encouragement - would appreciate it.

Thanks :)

Hey Lije,

I started taking Zoloft about a month ago. 25mg seemed to do nothing so I upped it to 50mg. At first it worked great, but then the obsessive thinking started to bug me, so it sort of feels like a "dampened" version anxiety. However, I've read multiple things about how usually it takes about 6 weeks or even more to get the full benefits of the the medication. How long have you been taking them?

Hello, I just wanted to let you know that i am the exact same way as you. I freak myself out more when I am on meds, always worrying about the side effects and making myself believe that I am having them when I am not. Meds work great for some people I just don't think they are for me. Dont get discouraged just talk to your doctor and see what might work best for you. With meds its just trial and error until you get what works for you. If you need anything else feel free to ask

fixyou90 - the obsessive thoughts will decrease in strength if you stick to your meds and you find the one that works for you. give yourself another good month. certainly monitor this with your dr with any changes in moods, side effects, etc.! try some CBT too. some of your guilt will be released if you discuss your ocd with someone ...

i've been on and off for several years, however, it's how quickly the serotonin (spelling?) drops when i decrease or skip a few doses. the anxiety also increases quite drastically when increasing doses - even just the slightest. however - don't get scared or discouraged from my experience.

i literally have shaved & cut pills. i'm presently on half a tablet of celexa, and am stuck on this doseage size @ the moment - can't get off it or increase it. too many side effects either way....

i'm just wondering if anyone else has had the same experience - and could provide some sage advice & encouragement.

thnx ;)
LiJe- Hi. I just wanted to offer some advice from past experiences. If you want to get off of the Celexa you will experience some discomfort but it doesn't last forever. Since you mentioned that you are down to half a dose (I assune you are cutting a 10 mg pill in half?)then you should tpaer to taking every other day for a couple weeks and them maybe every three days for a week and then stop. At that low of a dose, you can only taper so long and then you actually start adding it back into your system when it is almost all out. You can also ask your doctor for a mild anti-anxiety to help for a couple of weeks.
