Zoloft? Does it work?
Nope! Not for me anyhow. I have seriously been on EVERY SSRI out there. They mess with your (or rather MY)head! I am so anti-SSRI it isn't even funny but that because of my own personal experiences with them. Everyone's different. I just started a "Mood Stabilizer" 2 days ago. Hope it works but I'm glad I'm not having any of the bad side affects I've had with the other meds. (so far anyhow...). Good luck!

Hi. Ijust recently started zoloft. I started at 25mg and am now up to 100mg. I have been on the 100 for only 3 days. I am doing better than i was, but still not good. My doctor just keeps telling me that it will take time and getting better will not go in a straight line. I will have my ups and downs. I've been on it for 6 weeks.
I have been on Zoloft for just about a year after going off Cymbalta - I, too, have tried just about every SSRI that there is - the one that help me the VERY most, the FDA black boxed it. Since my granson was killed in Novermber the dr. has upped my dosage to 150mg a day - I take 100 in the a.m. and one in the evening. I found it difficult for about two weeks, but now it is really helping me through each day and I still have all the emotions with that tired, sappy feelings. I also take Xanax tid as needed, and I have needed it - it does not make me sleepy, just a little calmer. Everyone is different tho'. Hope it works for you - it surely has for me.

I was on 200 mg. zoloft for several years. It was the only thing that helped my depression that I'd had on and off for over 20 years. I went on and off it a couple of times when I wasn't sure if it was doing anything anymore. Now I am stable enough to go without it. It helped me pull myself out of the wrong thinking that kept me depressed. I never cried while I was on it which seems odd.
i have major depressive disorder and i was on 100mg zoloft for about a year and a half before switching to 60mg cymbalta. i spent 6 months on cymbalta and now i'm ready to go back to zoloft (cymbalta made me very sluggish and sleepy and i also gained weight).
it's hard to say if it works or not, i think. the zoloft worked in that it gave me my appetite back and i was no longer delusional and it helps with my focus. but i don't sleep as well on it. at the time that i switched, i was concerned that it was actually increasing my anxiety. i just started transitioning back to zoloft today.
you have to remember that a program like the program or other cognitive behavioral therapy is VERY important to give you long-term benefits. i hope that someday i will not need zoloft anymore. good luck!

I am taking 50 mg of zoloft with .75 mg of Klonopin and it has worked wonders for me. Starting the Zoloft was not good, but you have to let it work. People want immediate effects and don't want to ride out the initial bad side effects that do come with most SSRI but my advice to you is just to be patient. It took me about 3 months to really start seeing the difference, but my Dr. also recommended klonopin to help me bring my anxiety down and then eventually stay only on the zoloft for a year. We will see how it goes, but I am not driving everywhere, socialzing, and I even had the courage to meet in person Senator Mc Cain. So it does work?
