Zoloft question....
I took my first zoloft today, was only half a 50mg, and It made me kind of tired it seemed like. I was just wondering when would be the best time to take this pill? I'm alrdy taking .5mg of ativan before bedtime and that really gets me tired and gets me to sleep. I want to take something when I first wake up to help me during the day, rather than taking both pills at night, when one alrdy helps me with sleep.

I am also on zoloft, I started at 12.5 now up to 25, I am very sensitive to the side effects. I notices difficulty sleeping if I took it at night so I take it in the morning. I do get a little "zoned out" the first few hours, but nothing I cant deal with. Also had irritable bowel with zoloft, loss of apetite the first week and a slight increase in anxiety right at first. I am going on my second week and I feel less side effects now. I just pray it will help with the anxiety. Keep in touch.

To scaredviolent: I have been on 50mg of Zoloft for a week and a half. I am also really sensitive to side effects so I had to work my way up from 12.5mg. One of my doctors told me something interesting about taking the 12.5mg dose. Since the pills are 50mg pills, they are really only meant to be taken whole or split in half. The two halves have to have the same amount of active medicine. But, there is not guarantee that breaking the halves into half again will provide you with exactly .25 of a pill. So, one day you could be taking 25mg and the next day taking 0mg. Does that make sense? I know it's a mouthful. Anyway, it's something to think about.
To jdog499: I think taking the Zoloft in the morning is a good plan. I took Ativan up until a couple days ago and I found it really knocked me out. After being on Zoloft for a week or so, I noticed the sleepy, weird feeling has subsided some. I still haven't seen any major improvement with the medication yet, but I think it's supposed to take at least two weeks.
I hope this medication really hopes you both. I was very resistant to trying it, but why not. If it can help, I guess it's worth a shot. And, I hear it's not that difficult to wean off of. Anyway, hope to hear how things are going with you.

thanks everyone for your replies. Been a real odd day. I felt little nauseated, zoned out for most the day, then was bowling at 9 and started feeling real sick like the flu, had real bad heartburn/pressure feelin in my chest. anxiety startd up, was getting kinda bad to where i was real uncomfortable. took my ativan, kinda calmd me down some....the thing is I dn't know if the reason i felt like this today is because i jst felt sick with the flu type symtoms or if its from the half a 50mg of zoloft i took for the first time today.

I swear I think that the zoloft can give me chest pain, its listed as one of the side effects. I have been trying to ignore it. The best thing for me has been going back to work, forcing my mind on doing something else (I am a nurse), and telling myself "Do not doubt yourself, you are okay, nothing ever happens, you are safe, it will pass...and it does." It seems to help. I hope I get acclimated to the zoloft soon and start to really feel better.
