I started taking 5mg. of lexapro for about 3 weeks then went up to 10mg. Each time I started or changed my dose, I would feel pretty bad...Shakey, confused, not able to concentrate, out of reality, sad, worried, racing thoughts Some of these symptoms I had even before the lexapro. I just feel those were intensified) It's weird, in the very beginning of starting you feel pretty bad then you start feeling great (or at least I did) but still have symptoms present then you eventually start to "level out." It has been about a month since I've started taking the 10mg and I feel a lot better than I did before. I don't have the CONSTANT, (exhausting) racing thoughts, I don't feel shakey and worried ALL the time (I do still worry but it's not nearly as bad.) I feel more in control of my thoughts, my concentration had improved a little, I feel happier a lot of the time, I enjoy doing things more now...etc. About 2 weeks ago, I was ready to give up on lexapro I was still feeling so bad. I kept reading to stick it out a good 6-8 weeks and get past the symptoms(which is because your body needs to get used to it) and it will improve. Well, I do feel that I have improved. I am still doing the work for myself (The stress & anxiety program & I go talk to a counselor once a week). Hopefully I will continue on a good path to recovery from this EVIL anxiety and little bit of depression (which I feel is mostly because of my anxiety.) WISH ME LUCK...& GOOD LUCK TO ALL WHO SUFFER WITH THE SAME THING I DO...IT CAN BE A TERRBILE, DEBILITATING THING.

Congrats, I am glad you stuck with the Lex. I have been on it for a year at 10mg and it took a good 8 weeks to feel the full effects of it, I feel wonderful on it as well.
