Anyone take Tofranil Pm?

Did anyone try Tofranil PM?

My cousin and my aunt both take the generic for Tofranil PM. They swear by it.

My cousin was suffering from a specific phobia/situational anxiety. She was deathly afraid of going for long rides and traveling. We went camping two years ago and she basically didn't leave the campsite to do anything because she was afraid. It put a huge damper on the vacation. She has been on Tofranil for, I would say, a year, and she is totally turned around. She handled camping again last year with no issues, went with me to a sporting event in another city, and has left the state to go shopping during the holiday season.

My aunt replaced her Thorazine with Tofranil for panic attacks. She seems like she is fine using it as well. I never really dealt with her anxiety though so I couldn't tell you exactly how it has helped her.

But it did work wonders for my cousin, so hopefully it helps you.

I took it years ago and although it knocked out pretty much all my anxiety and I don't think you could have a panic attack on this even if you tried, I had to stop taking it due to the side effects. I was only able to sleep about 4 or 5 hours a night on it and started to get some heart palpitations. I think it may be one of the best though for panic attacks. They may have changed the recommended dosage on this now. My dosage was way too high for me.

Thanks for the replies. I just started on 75mg a day and yesterday was my first dose. I also have had trouble traveling the past and have had someissues over the past year that triggered some obsessive thoughts...the kinds that keep you up at night. I am at a pointwhere I just want to be happy and am doing what I need to do to try...been praying, going to church and am trying this in hopes thatit gives me more of a drive to do the things I want to do. BTW wasyour cousin taking it at night the 75mg Tofranil pm? And was there any behavior changes..taht's something I'm concerned about.

Yes, my cousin takes hers right before bedtime. I think she might also be on 75mgs. It hasn't really changed her at all, except for her phobia/anxiety. She can go for long rides and travel fine now. In fact, we just got back from a small hour long trip and she was 100% okay.
