Has anyone had the incidence of Wellbutrin XL making anxiety and depression worse? I was having a lot of anxiety and anger issues, and have been on Wellbutrin for about 6 months. Now the anger's gone, but I cry at the drop of a hat, don't leave my house very often, have big money troubles, and have more anxiety attacks. What the heck?

Hello girl, I at one time took wellbutrin xl and it made me very anxious and dioriented, so I changed to regular welbutrin and am feeling fine now, but you have been on it for 6 months and you should see the side effects start to go away, but you should not feel depressed, maybe check with you doctor and see if there is something else out there for you because it should be making you feel better not worse.

Hey, I had taken wellbutrin awhile ago, but wasnt on it very long, it actually caused me to hallucinate...which caused anxiety..so yeah of course that didnt work. Im currently on Prozac WITH wellbutin, and it seems to be fine. They put me on the wellbutrin because i was so dang tired.

I take Welbutrin XL 300 mg a day. When I first started taking it, I took it at night. My brother's stepdaughter was having problems and had tried taking it but I think she took the stronger version and had told me about having these really horrible nightmares. I don't know if it was just hearing her talk about it that made me have a bad experience in the beginning or what but I had the most horrific nightmares that would wake me up and I wouldn't want to go back to sleep for fear I would have another one. After a couple days, I stopped taking it and talked to my doctor. He told me to take it in the morning and not at night. It seems to help me but not as much as I would like. I think it may be causing me to be fatigued but don't know. Other than that, I have had no problem with it. Johnny G

I took Wellbutrin 1 year ago (tried to switch from cymbalta) and I was almost suicidal and had extreme anxiety. I tried it for 6 weeks and couldn't wait anylonger. I switched back to cymbalta. In a few months I will try to wean off of cymbalta again. I'm going to wean off and take vitamins....! I told my husband, he will have bills for yoga lessons instead, but you know what...all the side effects from the medication (night sweats, forgetfulness, and bloating)is no longer worth it!
