I was on celexa for about 5 years when it began to feel like it wasn't working for me. I then tappered off and have been off for about 4 months completely. My anxiety has started up again severely so my doctor put me back on. I had no adverse side effects the first time around, but this time I feel like it's making me crazy. I have such intense fear that I don't know what to do with myself. Is it possible to have new side effects from a drug I was once on?

:) Yes, it's possible to have side effects if you went off a particular drug and then back on it. That happened to me with paxil. When I was first on it it was wonderful. it lasted for 2 years and then pooped out. My doctor told me that the drugs can become non-effective after a while so he put me on zoloft and that worked for a while and then stopped working. Then I went back on paxil and my anxiety and depression was worse. I'm now on cymbalta and my doctor had added lamictal to enhance the cymbalta and the two seem to be working well. Unfortunately, sometimes you have to try different meds until you find the right one for you. Hang in there and don't give up hope!!!!
