Re: Ask Coach Chris
We are the kind of people who like to over-think and complicate things...even our faith.
I thought this was a good article: Five Ways to Relax with God.
If you find yourself over-thinking and need to talk PM me. Being stuck/confused in our relationship with God can be difficult and draining. We are here to help.

Re: Ask Coach Chris
Greetings Everyone,
The warm weather is here and I know a lot of you are sensitive to heat. Remember to take plenty of ice water to drink when you are going out. Pace and prepare yourself by checking the weather report, wear cool clothes and carry a plastic spray bottle with you. Fill up the plastic spray bottle halfway the night before and freeze it. When you are ready to head out add water to the fill line. It's a great way to stay cool

Re: Ask Coach Chris
I've had severe agoraphobia and some panic disorder that's kept me from driving or walking beyond a few blocks since... May '07. I have overcome a lot of it and can drive a bit along a highway with stoplights now. Freeway still feels too intense, but I am ready for anything... I have ideas all the time on where to go that takes hours to get there on a highway...
I am on unit 12 of the program. I'd like to ask - how important do you believe it is to stay on a diet? How much does coffee hurt if it's drunk once a week, once every two weeks? And do you know what is most effective ways to battle agoraphobia? Which therapy type, etc? THank you!!!!

Hi Sam,
Congratulations on all of the successes you are having. I can hear how hard you have been working and am confident you will be hitting the highway soon. Road Trip!!!
Moderation in caffeine and sugars are really important especially the first 6 months- 12 months of recovery. I have been panic free for 13 years now but still keep my caffeine to a minimum and limit my sugars. Exercise is key too. Thirty minutes of aerobic activity at least 3 times a week.
I love the whole the program program for agoraphobia. Each lesson is important and flows into the next. Be sure not to fight the adrenalin and schedule doable practice sessions where you can have success. Lesson 8 talks about how to make that happen.
Hope this helps.

Re: Ask Coach Chris
Hi Chris,
3 months ago I abruptly broke up with my girlfriend because she wanted to take things to the next level. We dated for 1 year. I've always had a fear of commitment, intimacy, sex, etc. I also find it extremely hard to say the words "I love you", and feel as if my anxiety prevents me from fully feeling love.
Anyway, to have found myself in a 1+ year relationship was a great accomplishment for me. Unfortunately, it wasn't enough - because eventually, a relationship has to grow and there was only so far I could go. Mind you, this was my first real serious adult relationship. I am 33 years old.
My fear is that I will never fall in love, or be in a relationship again (they seem very ill-fitting to me), etc. Just thinking about the topic gives me anxiety and I tend to think way into the future when maybe I shouldn't. I want to have a family one day but don't know how to get there. I put a lot of pressure on myself. I miss my ex too and feel guilt for what I did. I don't want to keep running from love. This is all I obsess about. Did I really love my gf (bc I couldn't say it), did I do the right thing etc...Any advice?

Falcon,
Thank you for email and reaching out!
It sounds like your first priority is to recover from the anxiety, then examine the commitment fears.
Are you working the Combatting Stress and Depression Program program?
Feel free to PM me if you would like to chat privately.
I look forward to your reply,
Coach Chris
