I started the program in March of last year and have had such great success and piece of mind as a result. BUT, I have so much trouble dealing with an ongoing problem with my living situation. I've been putting up with noisy room mates, then noisy neighbors for about 2 years now and decided to take an opportunity to rent a house from a longtime friend of my boyfriend's family. It's been sitting empty for some time, so we went in to get started cleaning up. I became so overwhelmed almost immediately because of all that needed to be done and a few repairs that need to be made, I went right into major panic mode. I reached out to others, all the while remembering that "I need to be the one that I run to", but feeling completely unable to do so. A few very kind people came over to help and I calmed down considerably, but woke up several times during that night with worry. I repeated a mantra, "it's okay. It's always turned out okay and always will.", and it helped me get back to sleep each time. I pulled out my relaxation cd this morning and again over my lunch break. Should I start from the start? Am I still bad enough to need to consider the coaching program? I feel disapointed and frustrated with myself, but at the same time, I think a lot of people would have felt overwhelmed in that situation. What to do?

It sure sounds like you actually have it together! Yea, you felt the panic, but you fairly quickly started doing the right kind of talk when you'd wake up. Plus, you started the relaxation tapes, too. It's still frustrating though, right? I always think it should be completely gone. But, what I'm learning is that we've got to have a few more of these overreaction times to really see the pattern and it'll help us for the next time we have a crisis, change or conflict, like you're experiencing with the living situation.

I'd say keep on with what you're doing and know those uncomfortable feelings of worry and/or disappointment may keep bugging you for a bit because our brains were trained to do so. We just have to stand up and replace them.

I've also looked at it like a good thing that a growth spurt appeared because it was a good chance to get more comfortable with the skills or look for more areas that need work. I'm still noticing the pattern for me and know eventually I'll stop falling into it so quickly.
Hope that helped...

God bless you.

Sounds like you are handling a stressful situation. I would listen to the 12th session. I think it was the 12th that deals with "growth spurts". That is all this is, you have made a big change and change can be scary. You know that you have the tools to work through this. Good luck!
